I guess I'm just so put off about hearing people brag about how 'advanced' their dc is. It bugs me to no end....I guess because I usually underestimate my kids' abilities. Both of my dc's completely surprised me by scoring very well on the tests (ERBs, OLSAT etc). I guess I was always listening to people lie essentially about what their dc could do (reading math etc at age 3 etc) so I just figured since mine didn't do those things at 3 they were behind the curve. My problem, I know....and I've since learned that most people who claim their dcs are reading for example are stretching the truth a bit (like a person who says there dc can count to 20 or knows the alphabet by age 15 mos when the child has just memorized a phonetic sequence) [ Reply | More ]

"Marla, thank you so much for the long notice you gave me last night for your vacation week. I'll try to let you know with the same kind of notice when I pick the second week of your vacation.
