right? my dd got a cut on her forehead; we waited 5 hours in the emergency room, where everyone said "oh, she'd be a perfect candidate for surgical glue". Too bad they were all out. They had to put her in the equivalent of a straight jacket for three stitches. I'm not sure who was more traumatized, her or dh and me (she was 18 mo at the time) [ Reply | More ]

we went to the pediatric ER at Cornell (recommended by ped) -- the wait was undoubtedly due to the fact that it was the day of the Puerto Rican day parade -- the ER was packed. I had a similiar situation at 5 1/2 weeks as well- it turned out to be a chemical pregnancy and the fertilized egg did not implant but my body held on to the pregnancy until 5 1/2 weeks- I am so sorry for what your going through... but I also got pregnant again 3 months later and I am now 12 weeks and at 8 weeks bled bright red- went to er and all is well so it could be fine - how heavy is the bleeding and how much was really red? it is when the egg fertilizes so your levels are high and result in positive pregnancy tests- then the levels may stay up but the egg does not implant in your uterus- so it does not form or anything, basically your body thinks you are preg still because you may still have high levels but nothing is really happening and then you just bleed like your having a period, but it is a miscarriage and all but usually no d and c required because it did not become anything you need to really pass- it was a harsh week of bleeding though- anyway listen- Every thing could be just fine- like I said I bled this pregnancy at 8 wks and all is well- good sign your not cramping- are you filling up the pads?? My OB is also my best friend so I know a bit about all this stuff- you could go and get an ultrasound tomorrow and maybe they can see the baby- I saw this one at 6 weeks- [ Reply | More ]

i started bleeding week 8 or so...dark blood....told it was just old blood, i have been spotting all way since then and passed a massive blood clot preceded by red blood...i was sure it was at least one baby ( i am preggers with triplets)...we were shocked when we went in the next day for our neucal and they were all three there...it is likely to be a subchronic hematoma ( where a blot clot is in the babies placenta...it usually resolves itself...and the clots you pass are not that clot, but related to it. I have read you should heavily increase your water intake if this happens....i know how scary it is....i hope all is well. [ Reply | More ]

np: It is much important to teach your daughter how to take care of herself. Talk to her about possible problems and ask her how she would handle them. Let's say, for example, the driver lets her get off the bus at the wrong stop or the wrong school. What is she supposed to do? She needs to know that regardless of whether she has a phone. Again, so she calls you? What are you going to do? You will not be there. He has other dc bugging him all the time to play games on it and he needs to negotiate that, many of whom are his friends. Plus he is fairly responsible for his age and has lost the phone 2 times. Other dc may try to take it. It is just a lot of responsibilty to place on a 5 year old. My dc took the bus for years without a phone. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] DH recently let go. He wants to pursue a new career path which requires 5-6 yrs. of schooling. I can't pay for full-time daycare on my salary alone. WWYD? Ask DH to take care of both kids all day and go to school at night? Get au pair and have DH fit in classes when au pair is "on"? Tuition will be paid by ILs/loans. 41 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

How old is DH? I am never impressed with someone who wants a new path when they have already committed to a family - those carefree days are over. He is also discouraged because of the lay off and is certainly thinking that this is a sign from God. If he must do this he can go to school at night and care for kids during the day. Why be so black or white about it. If going to school is in your family's longterm interest you and he need to figure out how he can do this and succeed. He could ck w the schhol to figure out how much study time he needs. Maybe you do daycare or babysitter part time. School may even have cc. Last thing u want is to set yourselves up for failure [ Reply | More ]
