If a friend cancels or she can't get a friend to spend time with her than she will call me to see them. aw, give her some time. she probably needs to adjust to being home all the time and maybe having adult dates makes her feel good. also, c'mon don't you sort of understand. if you could go hang out with friends and know that in the time in between you can hang out with dc, wouldn't you sometimes do that? i would, adults are the ones that are hard to schedule. Why don't you plan a time with MIL in advance. Just because she is retired doesn't mean she has to make her grandkids her first priority. She is entitled to have a life. You should make playdates with her as you would anyone else and as she does with her friends. [ Reply | More ]

If your dc is smart & mature for age (other people comment on your dc, not you or your family), take it in the summer. Having the score helped a lot when choosing where to apply. If ERB was 90, I would not have applied to TTs. [ Reply | More ]

Teachers have told us dc is very bright, exceptionally verbal and oddly analytical for a 4+ year old. Just doubting if the maturity is there. Still very nervous around strangers and with new experiences. I'm thinking wait. [ Reply | More ]

I had my dd take it early (same feedback) and got 99x3. But dd is not a particularly shy child. She separated easily which is noted in the ERB report which schools pay attention to. If she is shy, maybe wait. But if you think she may not grow out of shyness in 2-3 months (which is still a short amount of time to change personality), I would do it now. [ Reply | More ]

>only bec ERB office gets really full in the fall (or your school). In the spring.summer, ERB has lots of openings and you can choose the best time for your dd. From experience I have to disagree that Singapore is the best program for *most* students. TERC is so much better in teaching just enough math to function well in our society. The problem is that it seems that the school system is fine with this relatively low goal. What is needed something that builds on top of this for the kids who are less mathematically challenged and need to go deeper. [ Reply | More ]
