I hear you. These ppl here asking who sis running the family (the parents or the kids) seem to have kids that are spunky in the morning. MY dc is grumpy in the morning. She has to be at school by 8:20. We wake her up at 6:30, carry her to the couch, put on a cartoon and don't even talking to her until 7 pm. Then at 7 we start with breakfast and getting her dressed and then give her more time to chill out on the couch. If we didn't give her the extra chill time in the morning she would be a wreck in the morning at school. So if you have a kid that is grumpy in the morning and hard to wake up, give them more time in the morning instead of less. [ Reply | More ]

We had United, and then my employer switched to Aetna. UHC's service sucked, but there were a lot more doctor's on the network. Plus Aetna doesn't cover as much "well" care. I'd go back to UHC if I could. [ Reply | More ]

The specifics of coverage are determined by your employer's plan, not the ins co [ Reply | More ]

aetna. I have been with them for years. no problems so far and the if you have to submit a claim to get reimbursed for care (ie, out of network), the check comes in about 2 weeks. [ Reply | More ]

We have used Aetna for 10 yrs (2 different employers during that time period, so different Aetna plans), and overall it has been a good experience (and I hate, hate, hate health ins companies; the slightest irritation with them tends to send me into hysterics... I know, I know, I'm working on it). [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] To parents of only children....I am stay-at-home mother to a three and a half year old boy/only child. He does go to nursery school four mornings a week. I try to run all my errands, clean the house, return phone calls during that time, but with the commute, I only get a few things done before having to pick up ds. My question is, being his only "playmate" while at home, I feel extremely guilty when I need to finish things up, like laundry, cleaning, getting dinner ready. How much time do other parents spend playing with their onlys? Am I being to harsh on myself. I worry he is lonely, I feel so guilty, but also hurried and stressed to get everything done. I'll be watching this because while I have 3 dcs my youngest is 7 and the older two are 21 and 25. I have the same concerns. [ Reply | More ]

Hi. What has it been like raising your 7 year old? Did you also worry that he/she had to play alone too much while you got things done? [ Reply | More ]

you need to learn to find a balance and let some things go. spend time with your son, then encourage him to do something alone for a while, like playdoh or coloring at the table while you prepare dinner, or finish vaccuuming or whatever, then you let him help you for a while, then you stop and pay attention to him, etc. not everything needs to get done in one day. Thank you, that is good, solid advice. I do try to balance, find ways for ds to keep busy and I also involve him in cooking/cleaning when I can. Preschoolers love to be helpers! I just need to get past the guilt. I worry that ds is lonely without a sib, but make every attempt for us to socialize with close friends and other children. Thanks again. [ Reply | More ]

i was an only, and i had a rampant imagination and as a mother I consider it part of my responsibility to let my kids get bored so they figure themselves out. [ Reply | More ]
