by handouts, I mean hand-me down outfits and MIL just got her a subscription to Parent's Magazine. SIL EBF right now, and she got a pile of diapers at her shower. Once the initial gifts are used up, I am sure they will soon realize how expensive it is to be a parent. [ Reply | More ]

I though that's what these online places were for. OP - some of these people are obviously very threatened by your post, maybe because they are worried about what their own husbands do. I don't think you did anything wrong, other than getting involved with the wrong man, and many women have done that. You did not take any marital vows, and for all anyone knows, you could be a woman who does not believe it marriage, so I don't see where what you did was wrong. [ Reply | More ]

OP - I have a suggestion. If you go to the website www.ivillage.com, and click on the section called "Love" -- under this heading there is another heading called, "Relationship Problems" and then under "Relationship Problems" there is something called "My Affair Support". This section is for people who have had affairs, and who want to talk to others who have also had affairs without being judged. [ Reply | More ]

This is such a devisive topic. I'm usually in the better safe than sorry category. But, in this case, so many factors would have to converge - someone would have to want to break in to my apt at the exact time that I leave for 5 min. Unless I was being stalked, the odds seem so slim. I'd get the laundry - quickly and do nothing else. I couldn't live assuming that someone is outside my door ready to pounce the second I leave. I suppose the final test is what would happen to you legally if something terrible happened to your baby in the 5 short minutes you were gone. This didn't happen in my house but easily could have...my husband and 4 yo in early spring had a small pocket flashlight spontaneously combust after entering our car inside our garage and my husband had used it momentarily. It had 2 double AA batteries. The end melted off and spewed a huge black smoke cloud. This flashlight could have been inside our house. Near something flammable. Like the junk battery powered toys everyone gives your child scattered around his or her room. I never would have believed this could happen until it happened to us. You take your child with you. The laundry or pint of ice cream is not as important as your child's life. [ Reply | More ]
