[ - ] Sister in law is miscarrying at 3 months. She is in a lot of pain (cramping) doesn't see doctor until Monday. Baby is size of a lime, right? Will she have to have a D&C? Anxious to help, anyone BTDT that can offer what helped them? 6 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

I'm sorry to hear this. Most likely, she will have to have the D&C. Is this her first child? If she has others you can offer to take the kids for a few days so that she can get some rest. If it is her first, then bring her over something to eat for a week or so and just tell her how sorry you are that this has happened. [ Reply | More ]

She may not have to have a D&C. If she's in a lot of pain--or just scared--she can go to an ER, which is what I did though that was nightmarish too. [ Reply | More ]

i'm surprised that her OB hasn't told her to go to the ER--especially the one at his hospital, where he would have privileges. in that situation, my doctors would definitely tell me to do that, and then the doctor on call would come see me. [ Reply | More ]

She did go to the ER, Friday night and they did an ultrasound. She was supposed to see her regular OB on Monday. She will likely need the D&C, but they'll check her tomorrow. She's had lots of cramping still - now taking percocet for the pain. Its her second pregnancy. [ Reply | More ]

Only thing is, he responds to a pacifier. Any BTDT? Help?? Ideas. I need some sleep! Or at least some quiet! Oh, does it matter if I hold him too much? You can't hold a baby too much. Don't worry about that. It will get easier as much of what you describe is outgrown. In the meanwhile, consider getting a babysitter a night or two a week so you can catch up on sleep. [ Reply | More ]

if the pacifier works, go for it. my dc is 18 mos and still uses a paci to sleep (we plan on weaning after an x country trip this summer). but dc slept like a champ from day one. you can't hold a db too much-hold them! they won't be this small ever again. as for letting cry, as long as my dc heard my voice, they would be ok. at this age, i wouldn't let it go too long, but you do need to do things (like go to the bathroom, feed the other dc, change the other dc, etc). it does get better. gl and congrats on your dbs [ Reply | More ]

You are me! How old are your twins, though? You left that part out. Ours are almost 8 months, and there has always been this difference. One is a great eater and sleeper and the other is very fussy, projectile vomits all the time, doesn't fall asleep on his own as well, etc. He is also the pacifier lover and the other isn't. I'm just thankful that I have one good eater/sleeper so that I can spend time helping the other one. [ Reply | More ]
