[ - ] I've posted so many times on here when I have been upset/depressed, so I wanted to post that after two really really bad years, things are finally falling into place, starting with my new job. visit it this summer, play in their playground if you can, get together with other children who will be attending for playdates, talk through what the routine will be (daddy will take you and then... and then mommy will come pick you up and we can talk about your day, etc.) over and over an d over again, stressing the aspects of how your presence will book-end his day their. My big sister is like that. Loooooves babies. Is actually kind of afraid of older kids. I think each age has it pros & cons. I love babies, but it's so fun seeing who these little people are turning into. And I used to teach high school and like my students a lot, so I'm actually kind of interested in what the tween-teen years bring. [ Reply | More ]

I am a nanny and this is how I feel. I adore children in general but would much rather work with them the first 3 years. I feel that way about my own niece and nephew, I LOVE them to death but enjoyed them SO much more when they were babies. I'm a baby person, always have been [ Reply | More ]

same, hate the 0-4 stage. I have a 5 yo, 7 yo and a 1 yo. I'm counting the days til she's 4. I hate the grunting, pointing, screaming when I don't know what she wants, hate having to watch her all the time and be within arms reach of her all the time at the park. [ - ] My ds has a bit of a hitting problem. It only happens when he is very tired or angry he tries hard to control it but it still happens. verrrry normal, not really a "problem" as annoying as it is. sounds like you are handling it well, esp since he is trying to control it. you could phrase the time out as "take a time out to calm down" - that helps with my dd sometimes. [ Reply | More ]

I didn't start to feel pregnant until 6wks, which was 2wks after the positive pregnancy. I know a bunch of people that obsess about symptoms, but I have never heard of anyone getting real symptoms until after their positive test (assuming they test around 4wks). [ Reply | More ]

So many people I know had nausea after IVF from nervousness (this includes a few that it didn't work). Really, you need to stop stressing, the progesterone that you're taking can also make you feel pregnant. [ Reply | More ]

I would agree about DS's kindergarten teacher. She does a lot of small group & individual instruction. Small class size plus an aide and parent volunteers--that helps a lot. But it's also just her approach--she's a really gifted teacher. She got my DS on a level no teacher has before. [ Reply | More ]

I haven't heard a school say they individualize curricula, but I have heard my dc's school say they try to accommodate different learning styles. Here's one example: my child, in 3rd grade, had to do a book report that could be done in written form, poster style form with drawing, as a dance or verbally. [ Reply | More ]

they don't, especially in private school. They are lying...that's why they have such a secretive application process...they choose kids who fit their style and if they make a mistake and choose a kid who doesn't respond to their style, they kick them out. [ - ] We put a gate across db's door because we were having major issues with him going to sleep at night. he moved into a toddler bed 2 wks ago and just kept walking out- last night he did it from 8pm to 12! So tonight we put the gate up and he is sleeping. my question is should we remove it now so if he wakes during the night it is not there, or just leave it there? he has also been coming to our bed around 3:30am, but not every night. thanks so much. 14 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

A crib prevents your child from falling out. Once you put a kid into her own bed you kind of gave her the freedom to get in and out anytime she wants. And then you put the gate up? [ Reply | More ]

please, if it was just to keep kids from falling, you would put the mattress on the floor to be done with it. The kid is used to not having complete freedom, so it's not exactly traumatic.
