I disagree. I have a wonderful healthy marriage, but every now and then we have our dry spells. A REALLY long one after our baby was born. I was at brunch with a bunch of friends today. I don't expect their lives to revolve around these granddaughters, but now they are trying to make up for the fact that they basically had nothing to do with our kids. It's so obvious what is going on. Even dh feels the same way that I do. Should I be a shithead or just let them make up to them the fact they have been absent and playing favorites with the other grandkids?? 5 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

ITA...Who knows what was going on. There might be a reason why they were more concerned with the other grandkids for that period of time. Look at it this way...at least they have returned to the realization that they must make up for lost time with your kids and they are making every effort to do so. I would let it go and just pick up where the good times with them left off. [ Reply | More ]

Maybe it is easier for them to manage planning things with one group at a time. Are they now "neglecting" the other gdc to spend time with your dds? [ Reply | More ]

I always think if you notice people are spending less time with you and more time with the other siblings/friends, etc its because you aren't as fun to be around. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] 2 yr ds is going through a stage where he doesn't want to go to sleep at night and won't sleep through the night. We have been putting him in his crib and laying on the floor until he falls asleep however he doesn't sleep through the night. Usually around 3 am he wakes up and we just bring him to our bed. Any ideas? 5 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

Then my suggestion would be to stop staying in his room for him to fall asleep. Make a good bedtime routine, make it clear that you're saying good night, give him a lovey of some kind and then stay out of there. When he wakes up--if you're sure he's not sick or needing a fresh diaper--just let him CIO and see how that works. But don't keep bringing him into bed--he'll need that to go back to sleep. We have had similar issue with our 2 yo ds. One helpful thing has been that he never, ever gets to sleep in our bed. We haven't completely solved it, but it helps. Also, making sure that he is eating enough during the day and and at dinner, so he won't awaken hungry. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] Expecting first baby. We live in a 1 bedroom in Manhattan - not sure what we are going to do before we move. (baby will be here for 6 months)We are going to get a Bugaboo. Can the baby sleep in the bassinet feature instead of buying a real bassinet? Has anyone else done this?? Do you take it off or keep it on the wheels?? 19 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

only a real bassinet is designed with SIDs in mind. Pack n' plays, strollers, etc. are not, because they are designed to only be used with an adult around. [ Reply | More ]

obviously cribs and travel cribs are also designed according to sids specifications as well, just in case that's not obvious. [ Reply | More ]

We are moving when out lease is up and when you pay 3500 a month in rent, 1000 on a stroller seems normal. and I didn't ask your opinion on the price - just the use. [ Reply | More ]

By the way, something that you probably hadn't thought of, a bassinet or crib is nice because the baby is not to spit up a lot, etc. The bugaboo isn't going to stay pretty at all if the baby is spending 12 hours a night + naps sleeping in it. Do they make sheets for the bugaboo? if not, I wouldn't just for the sake of convenience. [ Reply | More ]

I don't see why not. Those Bugaboos are wonderful. You can get a special sids prevention cushion to go inside...ask the pump station in LA. Even if you're not in LA, they are really helpful and can explain what you need. And I'd leave the wheels on so you can rock her when she gets fussy. GL! [ Reply | More ]

NP - We are doing the same thing and 1st - a Bugaboo is $900, not $100+, second - it is a temporary situation until our lease is up (and we already pay $4000 for a large 1BR so a $900 isn't a big deal. We had a two year lease and didn't expect to get pg so soon and I'm sure OP is in a similar situation. Don't judge w/o facts. [ Reply | More ]
