At 3.5yo, we only used a stroller when absolutely necessary which was pretty rare. By 4yo the stroller was gone. Our nanny had given up the double stroller for dc & the younger child she also cares for when dc was 3yo - she used the buggy board briefly but did not find it convenient so for the distances they walked, dc walked or they took the bus. [ - ] I really hate it that I feel like i have ot hide where my dc is going to school for k in Sept. I feel like if someone asks I have to feel guilty or something becasue they will think I am bragging. It is crazy. i am truly curious about where some of dc's friends are going but I feel as if I can;t ask because I am just fishing for them to ask where my dc is going. This is so wrong. Even someone whom I consider one, if not the best mommy friend I have, acts like this towards me (and no, I am not paranoid, others have commented on how this person is acting lately.) Why can't we all be adults here and just be happy for one another. Yes, I know we are VERY lucky and we are VERY grateful and fortunate as to dc's placement, but why does that mean that I can't be happy about it? I am happy for others that got into schools we did not get into. 27 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

People are impressed with their possessions and brag about what they have all the time. It's sad, but it absolutely happens. [ Reply | More ]

yeah, I have friends in Iowa who are like that, they have a huge house for .5 mill, and kids in the best schools. Still, they know that they could never afford that life style here and are not willing to move. [ Reply | More ]

Not my BIL/SIL. They took great pride in suggesting that DH and I were failures professionally and terrible savers/investors because we didn't have a spare bedroom, don't own cars, and (gasp) send our dc to public school. [ Reply | More ]

It doesn't get under my skin. I'm just enjoying watching people who were terribly impressed with themselves realize that they were bragging to the wrong person. [ Reply | More ]

look, i get it. we sacrifice a lot to live in new york, but we measure success differently. people from outside the city are often judgemental. so it's satisfying when they finally have to face it on our terms, instead of by their own fantasies. [ Reply | More ]

ah.. so that's the real issue. they made you feel bad. it has nothing to do with their wealth. it has to do with their actions adn words (that are inappropriate). but ultimatley, if they suggest that you're failures, that's a reflection of them. not of you. [ Reply | More ]
