I'll be flamed I'm sure but we had way over the limit at Citibank a few months ago and moved it out. Yes, I would take some action without panicking. No one on this board would have predicted Bear Stearns going down. [ Reply | More ]

If you are over the limit (ie: 100K per person on the account) just open a second (or third, or fourth) account. You are protected per person, per account. Not total per institution. [ Reply | More ]

The Fed and OCC are not going to let any banks fail. Don't worry. If you are truly concerned, just open up additional accounts and spread your money out so that no one account has more than $100K per account holder. [ Reply | More ]

My daughter had reflux. I know exactly what you mean. Nothing we could do would make her stop crying when her stomach was upset, which was every third hour around the clock (after every feeding). Alas, the Baby Papasan swing was our lifesaver. Side-to-side cradle mode. That and a pacifier, worked like a charm every time. Once I even left her in there rocking for 4 hours in the middle of the night while I slept next to her. I felt so guilty but you do what you need to do to get through it. Luckily, she got over it pretty quickly. [ Reply | More ]

I'm no high brow reader - but having a teen myself with so many of the same faults and fears as the lead character in this book - makes me anxious to know that she is reading it ... like it validates all of her fears and insecurities.
