When I was pg with my 2nd child, it took about a year to fully go away. I still had the line from the belly button down. Now, that I am pg with #3, I am in my third tri and it's now reappearing. May be it will stay for good. lol [ Reply | More ]

very inconsistent school - hit or miss with the teachers who don't have many (or any) years of teaching under their belts. PSD comes off as helpful, wonderful during admissions process, but in reality doesn't help much with exmissions and can be combative. After several years at the school, she really didn't know my DC because she doesn't spend any time in the classroom. They are more concerned with filling seats for next year and aren't watching/concerned about the quality of what's happening in the classrooms...proceed with caution. PS Families are generally great and kids go to publics, G&T, Hunter, Calhoun, St hilda's, cathedral, dwight, etc. [ Reply | More ]

We have found that cupcake cafe is good and get all our bday cakes for peanut allergy son there. They only caveat is that they chocolate uses choc made in a factory w peanuts (although, ironically, Babycakes, which markets itself as an allergy-safe place, has the same issue). [ Reply | More ]

you can also try Ciao For Now in the East Village. However, they have one nut that they bake with in a cake but you can put in a special order detailing your child's allergy and the baker will wipe everything down before baking your cupcakes. You should call and speak the the owner (Amy) before ordering to make sure you are comfortable. [ Reply | More ]

She tried to poop once on the potty but got scared. Should we just put in her underpants and go for it? (She's *dying* to wear underpants.) Or wait until she can poop on the potty? (PS: I'm pg and having a baby next month, if that matters.) 4 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

depends on your philosophy. if she can hold the poop until you get a diaper on her and you're ok with her being in panties but pooping in a diaper, then let her wear panties. if it's going to bother you to have a 3 y.o. asking for a diaper for pooping, then make her wait for the panties so she has the incentive to poop on the potty. i don't think either one is more right than the other. i think you have to pt according to your own parenting style so do what will work for you. you should look at dr. cohen's "the new basics" philosophy. he definitely argues in favor of putting her in underwear, knowing that there will be a couple of accidents. the kid's going to be so grossed out by the mess that she'll learn her lesson quicky. interesting, if a bit messy, philsophy.
