What would you think of a baby shower invite that said "Registered at Target and BRU. Gift receipt required for exchange." Informative or tacky? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

A little tacky but it is a bitch to return things to Target w/o a receipt so I guess I understand. [ Reply | More ]

op: yes - this came up b/c starting in august you can only return something to bru w/a receipt. even if it's on your registry and the store double sells your registry they will not take the item back w/out a receipt. very annoying. but i'm very reluctant to even mention returns on an invite. it's like saying "bring something so i can take it back." how annoying, that's going to make me think twice about registering there. [ Reply | More ]

everyone knows this, so if they choose not to give gift receipt, that's their choice. [ Reply | More ]

op: actually - i had no idea that bru required a receipt for things they sell in their store. when i was shopping there, they'd take just about anything back for store credit. [ Reply | More ]

op: well - i know it goes against etiquette and i think it's tacky but i'm not the only one hosting. i was trying to get an idea of what those receiving invites might think. there is a lot of true etiquette that people don't care so much about anymore. [ Reply | More ]

I would put a little asterisk at the bottom that says "Ask the hostess about the m-t-b's registry" and then have the hostess convey that info when they RSVP [ Reply | More ]

I don't like registry information on an invite at all, so I would say tacky. [ Reply | More ]

op: my idea was to put nothing about registry on the invite and if people ask when they rsvp where she's registered we can say "she's registered at bru but they've really tightened their return policy so you may want to ask for a gift receipt." [ Reply | More ]

that's what I would do - see my post above [ Reply | More ]

Totally tacky. If someone has half a brain, they'll check BRU automatically to see if you are registered, or they will call and ask about a registry. The notation about the gift receipts is horrible, although I realize it is true. [ Reply | More ]
