My baby started sleeping through the night at 7.5 weeks. Yes I consider myself very lucky but before she started doing so, i noticed she would be half asleep when feeding at night. So when she would cry at night I would pick her up and rock her back to sleep. I only did it for a few nights before she began to sleep through the night on her own. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] 2.5 yo threw a huge tantrum this morning saying she wanted to watch TV. We are trying to teach her to ask for things nicely and told her that if she asked nicely (saying please) that she could watch. She refused so we just let her throw her fit for about a half hour until she finally asked nicely. yep. GL! And even when you are consistent with it, they still tantrum. Going through that right now with 3.5yo DD. It's fine. The girls who go there for ballet have a better time than those who don't. I would recommend instead the Craft Studio, which is on the same block. They have good parties for both sexes. [ Reply | More ]

if you're really worried, sure, go to the ED, but this is prob. something a general med doc or gyn can handle, and you will probably not need alot of tests (least of all an MRI) [ Reply | More ]

its probably just a small cyst, lymph node, or blocked gland. Call your PMD. Or if you cannot get an appointment and it continues to swell, gets more painful, or yet get sick in any other way (feves, etc)go to to ER or an urgent care center. FWIW, getting an MRI is probablly totally irrelevant to your case. [ Reply | More ]

there are plenty of things that can be diagnosed by just a physical exam, the feel and appearance of the area, and the history. MRIs are ordered in specific scenarios and this is prob. not one of them. Signed, MD mom who orders MRIs all the time but only when they're necessary. [ Reply | More ]

the hudson heights neighorhood in washington heights is great-very quiet with an almost surburban feel, tons of families with young kids, a good public school, and lots of nice parks and playgrounds. Also large apartments for less than other areas. [ Reply | More ]

UWS - riverside drive, west end avenue, or between columbus and CPW or columbus and amsterdam - this way you have access to both Central & Riverside Park - one where you stroll by the river, another miles of green. Central park has playgrounds, a puppet theater, you can even walk across park easily to the Met or even the zoo..its wonderful. stay between 73rd + 93rd if you can. [ Reply | More ]

Well, it's not a bargain basement solution, but I love Carnegie Hill, which is mostly slotted for PS198 (bad) but party for PS6. The 90s near Central Park are pretty, QUIET, and not too noisy. You are at Central Park and near tons of kids activities. 86th street is really busy/hectic though. [ Reply | More ]

Much to my surprise, the far east UES turns out to be a great area. Full of families, lots of parks, several good public schools, quiet and very reasonable (relatively) to boot. The downside of course is subway access, but i've learned to love the bus :) [ Reply | More ]

with DD, we started napping w/o diapers. A few weeks later she wanted to sleep all night w/o one. I made a deal with her that if she woke up dry for 2 weeks (sticker charts helped here) she could go overnight with big girl undies.
