This is my stepmom this week, while we were visiting the grandparents: "I had to put away the badminton rackets. DS (my 5yo ds) scrunched the strings and broke one. I don't understand why he did this. I spoke to him firmly the first time I saw him doing that, but he still did it again. I don't understand. I don't think you are disciplining him right." its generational. My mom says a good spanking solves a lot of problems. Whatever. I do think we (this generation of moms) go easier on our kids and I do see a lot of kids running over their moms, but I don't think we need to return to "spare the rod, spoil the child." [ Reply | More

How old is your dc? He might seem like a big kid compared with a 3yo, but 5yos are still very impulsive beings. He didn't pull the strings out on purpose. [ Reply | More
