Yes - even in forums or groups where you have relative anonymity but can still see a person's user name, it's a totally different experience. You start to recognize user names, personas, etc. Here you can dip in and out of different conversations, and nobody knows if you are the same person they were fighting with three posts down or the person that gave them great advice a week ago. op here: similar format is doable but things wont be exactly the same, eg youbemom et al doesn't seems as good for many users here (incl me). Plus to make it worthwhile I would need to get some kind of interest, ie more people posting. Not sure how to make it work yet (I am poster who has a newborn, just purchased a house to renovate, etc so have a lot of life happening) but I might just buy a domain and set up a way for people to register asap and then set up the format (UB-like) within a few days. op here: thanks everyone, I'm happy there's interest. I love UB so much! I posted above about irl stuff happening for me, so I will need to hire someone to set up and moderate it. Hosting etc fees are small compared to a full-time minimum wage, I could subsidize half of it but will need to fund the other half. I appreciate the offers to pay, but if I went that route it would be voluntary and "pay what you want" - I will figure out the money side later. For now, I'll try to set up a site for people to register within a day or so, and then I'll get tech help to set it up okay so people can start posting. Again, this might be completely wasted money if the site fails (just as it would be with the money I'm throwing to get it set up) but I think this is the easiest and most transparent way. When my mother was in her 80s she was frail and had difficulty traveling. My DD was graduating from Hamilton College and I posted something on here saying that I felt guilty but didn't think I could bring her to the graduation. People jumped all over me, and I decided to bring her with us. It was difficult, but worth it. She died after that, but she was very grateful to be included in the graduation. I did the same. My three main topics have been: my husband's refusal to change anything about our life, my father writing me out of his will in favor of his second family, and my in laws. Still arguing with my husband, but happy to report that I adore my in laws to the point where I don't even remember why I was so worked up and I understand why my father made the decisions he did and we're all good. Real clothes: Mostly. I have been wearing flowy dresses. Some are actual dresses, some are lounge dresses. Showering: A little bit more than normal, but that’s only because I’ve stopped blowing out my hair and it gets greasy looking quicker. Yes to all of it, with the caveat that I used to WFH a lot, so my clothes were casual anyway. I have to stick to a schedule - get up, shower, light make up, breakfast for DCs and me, walk dog and then work. Nothing has changed, I still wear make up and do my hair as before. Maybe give my hair one extra day of no washing. With less activities and travel for DH, we have been eating meals at home and both have been cooking a lot more.
