Yes - even in forums or groups where you have relative anonymity but can still see a person's user name, it's a totally different experience. You start to recognize user names, personas, etc. Here you can dip in and out of different conversations, and nobody knows if you are the same person they were fighting with three posts down or the person that gave them great advice a week ago. op here: similar format is doable but things wont be exactly the same, eg youbemom et al doesn't seems as good for many users here (incl me). Plus to make it worthwhile I would need to get some kind of interest, ie more people posting. Not sure how to make it work yet (I am poster who has a newborn, just purchased a house to renovate, etc so have a lot of life happening) but I might just buy a domain and set up a way for people to register asap and then set up the format (UB-like) within a few days. op here: thanks everyone, I'm happy there's interest. I love UB so much! I posted above about irl stuff happening for me, so I will need to hire someone to set up and moderate it. Hosting etc fees are small compared to a full-time minimum wage, I could subsidize half of it but will need to fund the other half. I appreciate the offers to pay, but if I went that route it would be voluntary and "pay what you want" - I will figure out the money side later. For now, I'll try to set up a site for people to register within a day or so, and then I'll get tech help to set it up okay so people can start posting. ^^speaking of money. At this stage I am thinking Patreon, I would set up tiers (eg $5, $10, $500, etc) so people can pay what they want. Again, this might be completely wasted money if the site fails (just as it would be with the money I'm throwing to get it set up) but I think this is the easiest and most transparent way.
