Well, it's an important choice. I didn't give birth to my child so that I could pay someone else to raise her. I would rather care for my child and know that she's being well taken care of than pay someone who'll sit on her duff all day to do it for me. If you feel comfortable bringing a life into the world and then having someone else do all the work? Go for it. I, however, feel it's a selfish choice. [ Reply | More ]

I'm not sure if the OP works, but let me tell you that you are completely off with your comment. Just because a sah parent doesn't bring home an income doesn't mean that it's not a job. If both parents worked you would be paying someone to watch your kid and manage your home unless then both parents took responsibility for that. IT'S A JOB!!!!!! The Oxford English DIctionary defines the word "job" as follows: "noun 1 a paid position of regular employment. 2 a task or piece of work. 3 informal a crime, especially a robbery. 4 informal a procedure to improve the appearance of something: a nose job." Although SAHM'ing doesn't fit the #1 definition above, it does #2. That said, I'm a SAHM who thinks your point is irrelevant. Even if it doesn't fit the criteria of a job - so what? Who cares? What's your point? [ Reply | More ]
