[ - ] I'm at the end of my rope and I need to find some more. dh is unemployed, has been for 5 months. he does very little around the house in terms of daily maintenance cleaning. I work full-time, do all the cooking and most of the cleaning. And that's not even the problem really, although it adds to it. He's so irritable...all the time...snapping at me about every little thing. I working all day, then working at home and getting nothing back...not even a kind word. I know it's hard for him, but geez. any advice? 7 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

yes. kick his arse and let him take care of the house. what's his excuse that he doesn't do any cleaning or cooking? How about helping out with the children? [ Reply | More ]

he gets very defensive. he's on the phone with ex-colleagues or prospective employees. any time I try to talk to him about it, he's like "I don't tell you what to do...ever." which is true. our dd is a teen so she pretty low-maintenance [ Reply | More ]

have you tried suggesting things for him to do? Like "honey, I'm so swamped at work, would you mind picking up a a few things at the grocery?" - is he looking for work? being unemployed is hard on most people and really hard on some. [ Reply | More ]

but he could do something in the meantime... a part-time job that's low-paid but just to get him out of the house, consulting... or just being a good SAHD for now. I agree with above poster, he seems depressed. [ Reply | More ]

Stupid UB. It doesn't let me reply to a reply. This is a reply to "Isn't your child asking you yet?" No, she doesn't. We went to an orientation and told her that this is a school she might be going to. She is excited to go to K but she doesn't really care where. [ Reply | More ]

Oh, that might be the difference. We haven't gone to any orientations and have tried not to mention names in front of her, but she is now anxious b/c everyone in her class is talking about where they're going, parents keep asking her, etc [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] Disturbing G&T Kinder Post from Inside Schools Blog: MaruG said...This is in reference to Kindergarten G&T applications. This past Saturday morning I received a phone call from the DOE, telling me that my application had not been received. After I calmed down, I learned that I was not alone, so I suspect that many more will be receiving phone calls as the DOE tries to process all the applicants. My preferences were taken again by phone by a very polite employee, who told me that I should probably find out where my daughter will be going to school by mid-August. There goes my summer! I actually think this sounds more plausible. In fact, given the DOE has no idea how many people will accept or reject or empty seats - this person could actually be at an ADVANTAGE! Pick of the litter of all open seats. I think they said August because they have to wait for people to accept, register, etc. I am still holding hope we get something THIS WEEK! [ Reply | More ]
