I can't believe it myself. My friends insisted on throwing me a bachelorette party, so I didn't invite them to the shower my mother's family just HAD to do. I would have been happy without either. And we even skipped the rehearsal dinner - seemed like such a waste. [ Reply | More ]

Another OR - I did the black dress thing, too. Actually, I originally said, where whatever Black dress you feel good in. They all asked me to pick an exact dress from David's Bridal (not where I got my wedding dress) because they wanted "guidance." So I did. Almost everyone ended up buying that dress but at least they could easily get it no matter what state they lived in. [ Reply | More ]

What do you all suggest: I'm the maid (ok Matron) of honor at my sister's wedding. What are your thoughts for the shower? Who must be invited? How can we do this cheaply? [ Reply | More ]

Talk to the bride about the guest list - traditionally all women invited to the wedding were invited to the shower, but it's not necessary anymore - you can limit it to family and close friends of the bride. The cheapest way to do it would be at someone's home - we had my sister's shower at her best friend's house and it was lovely. [ Reply | More ]

You know, I never have the problem with the shower. I actually like throwing the shower it brings everyone together. It is more of the dress cost, hair, makeup, shoes, bachelortte party, etc. One way to save is have everyone bring a dish and have them bring the recipe for the bride, I did this for my cousins wedding and it was fun, and she got a mini cookbook from friends and family. For something as small as a tear repair, you can fix it now. It is unlikely to tear there again for another delivery because there will be a small amount of scar tissue (nothing that you would probably notice, just there). What's good about seeing a urogynecologist, he/she can make sure there is no other damage you can't see. GL. [ Reply | More ]

The urogynecologist will do a consultation first, and perhaps some tests to check the strength of the muscles, your bladder, etc. (nothing painful, but peeing into this machine was a little embarrassing!). I know how upsetting this stuff is - so degrading, really painful, hard to talk about, affects your relationship with DH, etc. Chin up, there's help out there. [ Reply | More ]
