op - why did the nannies not work out, here is my situation - nanny is GREAT with db - have a nannycam so we know, comments from neighbors and doormen. But I feel like she and I dont communicate well - not because she doesnt listen to me, she does what I ask her to do but it is kinda like a one way street - when I ask about their day she says "db was in a great mood" really have to prod for any further info - like db rolled over etc... definitely stick with your nanny. she sounds wonderful. some suggestions are: (1) call during the day rather than ask at the end of the day; (2) ask specific questions rather than about the day generally; and (3) tell her that you love to hear details because you miss db during the day and it makes you feel more involved. good luck. I think that $500-$600 for a nanny for 1 newborn is something you can find for up to 50 hours. Certainly there are those who charge more, especially if you prefer someone with 20 years experience. I prefer a younger nanny so not as hard to come by. [ Reply | More ]
