[ - ] Started potty training 2.8 yr old dd this weekend. So far no success. She is naked from the waist down. We have instituted a reward system, but nothing works. Four accidents yesterday and two today (so far). She doesn't even try to go to the potty and will just pee on the floor. Help! I need some suggestions. 8 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

2 or 4 accidents in the first few days doesn't sound so bad. Either keep at it come what may, or totally back off for a month, go back to diapers, and try again in a month [ Reply | More ]

Good question. I thought that she was. She was excited about underwear and would tell me when her diaper needed to be changed. She liked playing/sitting on the potty too. [ Reply | More ]

ita...she is not ready. Let her know the potty is there and what it is for. Mention it once a day or so and ask if she would like to go pee pee in it. One day, she will just do it and there will be no looking back. This happened with all three of mine (though I tried so hard to train first dc before he was ready...it doesn't work). [ Reply | More ]

I'm going to disagree with the above posters and say she *is* ready and probably was ready 6 months ago. Put her on the potty whie she watches tv 15 minutes, after eating or drinking. All she needs is one close success (meaning even part of the pee pee makes into the potty)...keep the potty in the living room or with in inches of where she is playing. Even even a speckly of pee hits the potty.....jump up and down and praise lavishly (save the rewards system for other things and later). You are only on the second day. Don't give up and don't use pullups. [ Reply | More ]

ITA. Has she peed and pooped in the potty at all? Do you have some potty books to read to her? I would put her in underwear (rather than have her barebottomed) though I know people do that. Be VERY calm after every accident and praise like a lunatic for trying and doing anything in the potty. At 2.8 she is physically capable so go for it. [ Reply | More ]

make the decision for yourself. It's you that is going to have to do the work (watching them, etc. ) How old? If less than 6, I wouldn't bring them at all. Just had my bro's wedding, and the best decision I ever made was to not bring my 2 and 4 year old. We did bring them to the rehearsal, but that was 2 hours, and close to my house. I wouldn't have brought them at all if it had been us flying somewhere; or if i had to, I would have gotten babysitters there for all events. Don't bring them! Make it that you don't want them to disrupt the wedding, want it to be wonderful for MIL and BIL, etc. [ Reply | More ]

If it were my brother, I absolutely would leave them home. But I'm sure you can understand that doing this with difficult ILs would be harmful to our relationship for a long time. Even though DH would be making the decision, they will blame me. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] So gross. My 14 mo just had a bowel movement. It was black and tarry, and there was so much of it! It also had well formed round things, that could only be described as looking like black beans. After I cleaned her up I had to inspect this stuff and literally they look like beans, they are obviously undigested food. She has eaten blueberries and apple, which I could clearly see the cut up pieces of apple. Has anyone else experienced this in their child's diaper?
