[ - ] I am the mom that posted the other day about having the affair with a man from work. I have not told dh and I have not slept with the other man again; however, he came in to speak to me and he told me he understood my obligations to my husband and family and if I wanted him to he would cut ties, but he went on to tell me he could not imagine ending things with me because he has never felt the same about any other woman and he said he could not explain. I did not know what to do other than complete shock. He looked so distraught and sincere with everything he was saying, we kissed and then i left work early before I could make a mistake that could ruin my life. I am not doing well with this situation and I am even wondering if I should see a therapist. I need advice. 16 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

def see a therapist. do NOT see other man unless you are sure you want a divorce and are actively seeking one. make it that simple. it must be one or the other, you just don't get to have both. [ Reply | More ]

well, you just really need to weight it out - how long has this guy been in your life and is he a sure thing, because nothing ever is. you have a husband and kids at home, is this something that after the initial trauma will wind up creating a positive? will this make you happier in the end? will this be better for your dh than staying married to an emotionally absent woman? I avoided this thread until now. You don't know the OP and some are quick to judge. She's struggling and I'm sure it would help for her to see a therapist to talk things out. Stopping the affair was a smart move and it appears the man is into her and pressuring her. This is why I don't get involved with coworkers. [ Reply | More ]

It's not a VBA if that's what you are thinking. I just logged on for the first time in two months and saw it's the main topic of conversation. We got our results weeks ago, I was very surprised by our teacher's reaction. I was actually somewhat relieved our dd didn't pass. Our neighbor's kid goes to the G&T (we are in the Bronx, she goes to the one in co-op city) and they are both crazed because the homework load in first grade is insane, two to three hours every night, five to six hours at least on a weekend. I was very ambivalent about the whole thing...of course I'd love to brag she'd passed, but didn't want that pressure for her either. [ Reply | More ]

And btw, those horrible low-scoring sibs everyone is talking about, who are filling all the spots, puh-leeze. Who says sibs are automatically low-scoring? And also: I only know of about 2 siblings who even made the cutoff. There's room for all sorts of folks there. It's a great school, but the presence of G&T messes it up for everyone. The clear message there is that some of the kids (mostly white) are "gifted and talented!" and the other kids are equal of course, but...not "gifted and talented". We are sane, not score obsessed people who did choose to go elsewhere, bc this is not the message we want our dc to get. [ Reply | More ]

I feel like my dh does a lot, esp if you factor in finances, dealing with our annoying accountant, etc. He also throws me out of the house every so often so that I can have time with friends or myself. Would love to figure out what the real division is (I WOHM) [ Reply | More ]

Yeah, but even when you have someone come during the week to clean and do laundry there is still lots of work to do on the weekends and after work. [ Reply | More ]

I guess it doesn't seem like that much, or my dh is taking a lot of it - I still buy the presents for the family, do the grocery shopping and schedule ped appts though [ Reply | More ]

I do most everything, but he is great with the kids--will put them to bed, bath, etc. if he's home at that time, which he usually is not. I do everything else. SAHM and WAHM. [ Reply | More ]

I suggest that you schedule in some time where you are "busy" and he needs to be with kids. It doesn't sound like that is going to happen organically for you, but that it what you want. Schedule it. [ Reply | More ]

I am a WOHM and the division is about 80/20. We argue about it too [ Reply | More ]

SAHM - I do most, but he helps a decent amount. He walks the dog in the morning and at night (I do the midday walk) and takes out the garbage/recycling. I do the day-to-day bill-paying/accounting, he does the investing. I do all the laundry, grocery shopping, and cooking/dishes; housekeeper once a week to do the heavy cleaning. If he is home early enough, he supervises DCs shower (making sure all the shampoo is out and there is actually soap on the washcloth) and does stories/bedtime, otherwise I do it. [ Reply | More ]

1. Get a housekeeper; 2. Freshdirect; 3. Send laundry out. Now you can fight about things like he doesn't bring you flowers. When I got married, I told my dh that I wasn't going to clean and that we had to get a housekeeper. I buy all food on freshdirect from a preapproved list that I keep buying over and over and my DH brings the laundry to be done. Most men won't do anything unless they have to. Sad but true b/c this is how 99 percent were raised. [ Reply | More ]
