Because the academics are pretty weak at BF, and I think it's easier to have dc in a school that's good on academics and you can take charge of other stuff at home. Doing the opposite is a lot tougher. [ Reply | More ]

if the 1 y/o has a seat on the plane, you need to bring the car seat (the 3 y/o needs a seat, but doesn't need the car seat on the plane). also, there are often problems with the rental car seats - Avis once tried to convince my brother that his 24 lb DS could go into a Snugride with a 20 lb limit, and Hertz tried to give me one with a big crack in it for my DD. The rentals are also expensive - $10 a day, if you are going for more than a few days, you may as well just buy a new one. [ Reply | More ]

I disagree. Even on a 3 or 4 hr flight, it's a lot more comfortable for everyone if DB has a seat, especially if there are delays on the tarmac and you end up on the plane for 6 or 7 hrs (it happens all the time). It's also a lot safer for DB to be strapped into a carseat if the plane hits turbulence (which also happens more often than you think). [ Reply | More ]

It depends on your needs and your preferences. If you have a very regular schedule and like having adults supervising other adults (and don't want to deal with tax problems/legality issues), good day care is a great option. If you need someone who can come in early or stay late and want them to have one-on-one responsibilty for only your DCs, then hire a nanny. [ Reply | More ]
