my 17 mo ds is super active, mischievous, persistent, and intense. he sometimes seems "difficult" to friends or family with more laid back kids. it has not really bothered me before, and i have always thought of it as just his personality, but i sometimes wonder if it's my parenting- am i doing something wrong? anyone btdt? I have a similar 22 mo. Love him the way he is but am sometimes struck at b'day parties and the like that he is different than the other kids. It's just how he is and I love him for it. That said, he's well-behaved - he'll listen and he's sweet, but his baseline is very intense and active. [ Reply | More ]

yes, my son was like that and he remains a busy kid at 7. Keep in mind the activity level of girls v. boys is about 1000% higher for boys (i.mo.) so make sure you are comparing applies to apples. [ Reply | More ]

OR: I kind of like that he's so active. Makes me feel like he's got a lot going on upstairs :-) [ Reply | More ]

op- same here, it doesn't usually bother me because he is totally a sweet, loving, inquisitive kid, but i too am sometimes struck that he seems like just more that the other kids- more energy, more exploring, more talking, more laughing, but also more climbing, more running off, more tantrums, etc. sometimes people comment on how much "work" he is and then i begin to overanalyze i think. probably nothing so different, just such a high energy level, always moving, playing, climbing, running around. just overall a much higher energy level than his peers. [ Reply | More ]

no, he really has no interest. i don't try that often, but when i do, he watches for a minute or 2 than runs off, comes back for a few seconds, etc. where have you heard about it calming some kids? [ Reply | More ]
