i would assume that you would wait until the last possible moment to retake the ERB as the older you are the smarter you are. [ Reply | More ]

Many schools request ERB earlier. Also you can plan ahead.i.e. you think HM is your first choice and request application in September. But if you know your DC's score already in fall and DC got 92. Why bother to apply HM, or TTs? You need to know the score before you apply. [ Reply | More ]

The ERB is offered once per admission season. The season runs from April of one year until March of the following year. Thus you could have your summer child take it the fall after they turn 4 and then again (if you don't get a school) in the spring or summer or fall before or after the turn 5. [ Reply | More ]

They are good public schools. I would choose public over private bec privates in Long Island are not much better anyway. However, those excellent publics may not provide what TTs in the city can so as long as you can adjust your expectations, you will be very happy. Poster who grew up in Syosset. FYI- kids would go to zoned elementary school depending where your home is in district, then for Jr. High there are 2 Southwoods or Thompson, again determined by where you live in district. Then all kids go to Syosset High School. The guidance counselors are quite involved and helpful! Kids had appointments with them starting w/ freshman year so kids could get ideas and make a "game plan" of where they wanted to go for college. Where in Syosset are you looking at?? [ Reply | More ]

OK, I know EXACTLY where you are looking. Your kids would probably go to Berry Hill for elementary (unless zoning assignments changed from when I was there), then Southwoods for Jr. High and the Syosset High School. You are looking in a really good area!! It's close to the train station in case you are commuting by train but not so close the you would hear the train going by. Also good area because families there tend to be more down to earth where families in some part of Woodbury area are more materialistic/ nouveau riche. What else would you like to know??
