Yes - me. Physically it was very easy. Take it easy for a few days and do not be alarmed if you bleed for up to a week. Its not a painful or difficult procedure (for most people) so no need to worry. Just get it over with. Sorry for your loss. [ Reply | More ]

yes, once. I reacted poorly to the meds they put me on for the process and I was basically awake for it, so for me it sucked. Not much pain afterwards, but you might bleed a lot (think back to when you had your period as a teenager). Sorry for your loss. Take care of yourself. [ Reply | More ]

Def don't go to Wildwood or Pt Pleasant. Newport is nice, also Naragansett is supposed to be great in RI, otherwise, there is Mystic, Ct, If you did want to do Jersey shore, I'd suggest Cape May, LBI, or for closer, Sprink lake, Avon, or Ocean grove. [ Reply | More ]

I have used two great agencies- one is called Abby Nanny. You can reach the owner at CZDLutz@yahoo.com and the other agency I used was Pavillion. Both agencies do a great job. Pavillion is expensive but, they did find me a stellar nanny and she stayed with us for 6 years. My current nanny / housekeeper I found through Abby Nanny which is less pricy, CZDLutz@yahoo.com, and we love her ! Both agencies interview nannies and check references and do a personality profile and have optional criminal checks... [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] We are moving to a different zone and I was going to try to apply to pre-K in our new zone for Round 2, but my new zoned school is not on the Round 2 list. There must be some way to get on a wait list at the new school, there must be a few accepts that might not pan out for whatever reason (a family might move or whatever). Nobody at the school nor at the district office seems to know what to do. Anybody out there have any insight? 1 Reply [ Reply | Watch | More ]

Quickly, go to school in person. Talk to parent coordinator, make him/her aware of how much you want a spot and ask your name be placed on a list. Then in September when people don't show (many don't, they just decide to stay in preschool and don't bother to tell the school) you might slide in that way. Also, call after a couple of weeks in September and again in October - that is when they kick out the kids who they want in special needs programs. Good luck. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] While babysitting, my MIL takes our dd (4mo) to our nearby emergency room to visit SIL, who's a nurse there. Now, I think this is crazy (in the germs/pathogens sense--I mean, this is where you go when you're too sick to go to the doc), but dh just shrugs his shoulders, doesn't see a risk. Am I wrong in thinking this isn't the best idea? She's gone 3x this week. Also, comes straight off the subway and puts her hands in dd's mouth, and I highly doubt she washes hands after changing diapers, as I've been informed that diaper wipes "take care of it." 5 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

I don't think ER is an idea place to take a baby. Germs aside it is a busy place that is not really ideal for family to drop by for visits to staff! All I can say (especially if your dh isn't on your side) is that if you don't like the way she looks after your child then don't let her look after her. [ Reply | More ]

op: Unfortunately so not an option. DH is very close to parents, so there are constant visits, and the in-laws 100% about seeing dd, which is nice, despite from the fact that neither MIL nor FIL seem to have the first clue about germs. Because DH is in the same boat, more or less, I'm just a "germaphobe," and the in-laws all sort of roll their eyes at my opinions on the matter. Pressing it would cause major tension. DH told me to just "let it go," but then I just quietly seethe at their behavior with dd, which causes tension, too. [ Reply | More ]

Without your dh on side there isn't much you can do except buy them some alcohol hand rub! Your SIL should have more idea of the safety issues but she obviously doesn't mind either. Probably everything will be fine and unless you can stand up to your ILS you will have to let it go. [ Reply | More ]

Can you talk to SIL about this? I worked in an ER and everyone was aware of how germy it was. I would come home and dump clothes into laundry immediately, take a shower, etc. Maybe she can talk to MIL? [ Reply | More ]

Strangely, SIL's actually a little ignorant about germs. She once professed that flu germs could only live outside the body for a few minutes. I know I'm a little paranoid, but these folks are basically anti-science. Most surprising from the nurse SIL, but her general outlook comes from the MIL. Whole family's that way. The MIL was once down with a bad flu, got up after days of bed rest to make dinner for the family, and sneezed into her hands while making the salad. I watched this happen--no hand washing. Needless to say, I stuck to the cooked fare that night. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] I need to find a child psychologist or therapist for my 8 year old. He still has crying fits and says he is constantly stressed out. We are a very laid back family and he sometimes cries so hard about not doing his homework correctly that he hyperventilates. We can't take it anymore. All the soothing and comforting and telling him not to worry and he doesn't hear us and is in his own world. He literally tries to pull his hear out. We need to find someone for him to talk to. 6 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

he is in a very low stress situation. Not much homework at all. Even reading at night makes him cry and sometimes that is his only homework if any. HIs teachers love him and say he's doing well. His workload is 1/2 of what some of his friends have. He is not overscheduled with afterschool, he has a social life and play a lot. He just cries a lot. [ Reply | More ]

No biggie if you have the right attitude! Wear the 2 mo old, take the stroller and put the gear underneath (pack light), have the 3 yo get out of the stroller and stand with you at the top of the stairs-- hang on the to the railing with one hand and hang onto to the 3 yo with the other. Someone will carry the stroller down for you-- thank them SO MUCH. Then the 3 yo gets back in the stroller (bribe, bribe)... [ Reply | More ]
