it is not "the norm" as is everyone automatically gets it, but it is quite common, for situations when it is medically indicated. [ Reply | More ]

it's not the norm during labor, though a lot of women do get it. it is pretty much standard after delivery to help the uterus shrink and avoid excessive bleeding. [ Reply | More ]

T&E departments at most law firms are "servicing" departments for clients in other areas. You get minimal pay unless you find a boutique that does it exclusively, in which case the ramp up in pay is like 20 years down the road [ Reply | More ]

You wait until after he's done working out, and when you look your best, catch him on the way out of the gym and say something to the effect that he caught your eye and you thought it might be fun to have a drink together. Smile a lot, don't apolgize or say "isn't this akward" just stick to the plan, "I'd love to sit and chat over a beer with you" Or if you think you're hot shit enough just blirt out, "why haven't we had drinks yet?" Believe me, he will be so flattered that you noticed him and impressed with your forwardness that he will have to take you up on it even if it's just to hear what you'll say next. Keep it light and funny, don't ask about separations, rings, kids or jobs...ask all about him, as a person, music, movies, and maybe a little self deprication on your part if you are super confident he'll get it. Try it, it is so empowering, you'll see, this just may be your practice guy, but you will feel like a milliion bucks for having the brass balls and confidence to even try it! did not deliver at Cornell, but would not consider going natural -unnecessary suffering. besides, I know 2 moms who had plans to go natural but ended up with general anesthesia because they needed emergent c-sections, and because they had not had an epidural placed before, had no other option except to have a general. Delivered at Cornell (my OB was Kalish but she wasn't there - I had Zervoudakis, Grunebaum, and Lee respectively, and liked them in ascending order from worst to best). I wanted natural - told Kalish in one of my last visits I wanted to "try for natural, but see how it goes." Yes, they pushed an epidural - hard - but it wasn't the docs, it was my second L&D nurse. I consented to Pitocin after 9 hours at the hospital (water broke at home), held on another 4 hours (trying to make it to a certain dilation) before getting the epidural. Maybe it's just me, or maybe it was the quality of the epidural itself (seemed to range between being ineffective, and totally knocking me out), but I'd almost rather go through the Pitocin labor without an epidural. Which won't be an issue, though, since I had a c-section 27 hours in and hence will either have a repeat c or sure as hell won't be getting Pitocin with a VBAC. [ Reply | More ]

I had the same experience. The L&D nurse was asking every 5 minutes when I wanted it. I accepted Pitcoin because dr. was worried about infection due to water breaking 12 hours earlier, but thought I could deliver w/o the epidural. Finally gave in and it didn't seem to do much, but my delivery was a snap - 4 pushes and done, so I wasn't traumatized by any of it. [ Reply | More ]

No, it isn't actually. I suspect you don't even have a child in school yet and are going by what you read on UB or hear other moms say. If that is the case, just wait and see how your child does with TERC. It's actually a good program. It teaches higher concepts. It does need a little drill and kill added in there and District 2 schools (Like LL) realized that and they do add in now as part of policy. [ Reply | More ]

tutors, obviously. everyone has one. same with the downtown schools. TERC schools with parent body that can afford it tutors like nuts and the test scores seem to show that TERC is great. It is not. rumor has it that a lot of Lab parents have their kids tutored in math during 4th grade because of concerns over getting into good middle schools. LL scores include self-contained special ed class, but if you dig down you can see breakouts of the non-special ed LL student scores, as well as the G&T vs gen ed students in other schools. An way you slice it, LL got the top 4th grade scores of any public school in the city. [ Reply | More ]

Because state tests conform to the same inane constructivist math program that state/federal govts push onto schools with attractive pricing and training.
