[ - ] what are the dangers of being anemic during pregnancy? i'm *slightly* anemic (36 weeks pg) and taking iron. just wondering what could happen if still anemic when giving birth. does it mean that my body doesn't have enough blood? 15 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

No, it has to do with the iron levels in your blood. [ Reply | More ]

maybe it's the anemia making me confused, but i thought that not having enough iron meant that my body isn't producing enough blood. [ Reply | More ]

no, it has to do with the balance of iron in your blood. I hope you're taking folic acid rather than straight iron [ Reply | More ]

i'm taking a prenatal vitamin + fish oil + iron that was prescribed by my midwife. the iron is a bit intense on my body though. i try and take it 2x a day as recommended, but makes me so nauseous (for the first time in my pregnancy). [ Reply | More ]

anemic means low hemoglobin. hemoglobin binds oxygen and carries it to your tissues and your baby's developing tissues. therefore, anemia means baby gets less oxygen while in utero. You will/can be fatigued/cold/short of breath. Baby can have developmental issues. The iron isn't that bad, promise. [ Reply | More ]

no problem. there is actually a pre-natal that you can take that has extra iron for those who are anemic during pregnancy, its called Chromagen. It was a little hard to find, but I took it the whole time and didn't feel side effects. Any other q's, ask away. [ Reply | More ]

I don't think it's an issue if you're just slightly anemic. I was very anemic, despite some IV iron treatments, so my OB kept extra blood products on hand for my c-section (I didn't need them though). [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] Has anyone been to the Last Licks ice cream shop on 93rd? I went the other day with my 8 year old nephew and I thought I would share the experience with everyone here. I LOVED the location because there are so many children and families in the area, so it's a very family-friendly environment. What originally attracted me to the place was that Last Licks has a reputation for having a lot of quality sports memorabilia and as a sports fan, that was music to my ears. When I went in, I was amazed at the layout of the place. So many old and new photos that were autographed by the players in them. My little nephew was amazed by the vast assortment of candy and ice cream that they have available. He wanted to play the video games that they had there, but we didn't have time, so I promised him the next time we came we would. He got his fave ice cream, coffee, with capn' crunch cereal on it LOL. I had some chocolate chip cookie dough. Both were delicious. Anyway, I just felt like sharing the experience with you guys. Feel free to ask me anything or leave me a comment. Thanx for reading!! 8 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]
