[ - ] Moms with 2 kids who share a room - can you share your schedule ? about to put 2 yr old in toddler bed and need to get 4 month old in crib in same room. Wondering how to handle simultaneous naps and bedtime. Thanks. 5 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]
Newborn 07.02.08, 12:54 PM Flag

I would keep your 2yo in a crib til they are three. My two year old and 8 month old are both in cribs in their room. Baby takes a nap in the morning, and they both take their nap together after lunch. Baby usually wakes up first after 1.5hrs or so. 2yo generally naps for over 2hrs. As long as we live here and they share a room (up to another 18 months) I won't be taking either of them out of their cribs if I can help it. [ Reply | More ]

I guess thats my question - if they take naps at the same time, do you just put them both down together ? or one first and sneak the other in ? Just not sure of the logistics. [ Reply | More ]

My 2 year old was asking for a toddler bed so we got him one. Actually, it's been good. Now that he's ok sleeping in beds, he can nap in our room while newborn naps in the room they share. [ Reply | More ]

we put younger dc to bed first, then older dc to bed later (kids are 4 yrs apart, now 5 and 1). dc rarely wakes up older dc, and was a good sleeper from day 1, so no cio, which made it easier. if younger dc is still awake when older dc goes to bed, they cuddle and play in db's crib. older dc will also do same in am. it wasn't so bad [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] We have had the most adorable twin deer babies with their mother in our yard all spring. They nap right outside, play in the grass - it's like that scene out of Bambi every day. They are about 3 months old, I guess. For the last few days, mom is MIA. It's just the two foals, and they don't seem like themselves, have been sleeping even at night there. Does anyone know if deer send off their babies this young to live on their own, or (my fear) was her mother killed by a car? If mom is gone, is there anyone I can call to help the babies? I have no idea if they are old enough to survive on their own, am worried about them. 26 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

Left a message, hope they call back. It's clear the area is overpopulated - the nearby highway is littered with roadkill, it's awful. [ Reply | More ]

its VERY normal for mother deer to leave their babies for fairly long stretches of time. Don't move them, or the mother won't be able to find them [ Reply | More ]

Okay, thank you. I think it's been three days - does that seem normal? They used to always leave around dusk, slept somewhere else. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] Rent question: We have rented our apt. for 10 years. We never had a lease after the first year and rent increases would only occur around our original lease date. This past year our landlord raised a lot mid-year stating the rent is too low (someone told her she could be getting a lot more than she does). DH and I were thinking to ask her for a new lease to avoid future random increases like this but I worry she will just say 'no' and keep raising the rent until we can't afford it anymore. (We really just want to buy an apt. so the idea of having a lease is actually not so great a solution for us either.) WWYD? 23 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

We have wanted to buy for many years but it's just always out of reach for us (and we are too picky for our own good)! How easy is it to get out of a lease? We would give 60 or 90 days notice and have that as a lease term? [ Reply | More ]

In my area, I'm pretty sure once you go month-to-month, they can only increase rent once a year. I would put that in writing with her, instead of signing a lease. [ Reply | More ]

When you say put it in writing do you mean in the form of a letter to her stating our expectations or do you mean ask her to sign off on it. [ Reply | More ]

I'm not sure. call legal aid first, if they can't help you at all. I would at least talk to landlord and say that in future rent increases should only be once a year. It's in her best interest to keep long term tenets as happy as possible. But this isn't going to keep her from raising the rent, that's her right [ Reply | More ]

OP: Thanks. I am just afraid talking to her will tip her off that we do have a breaking point and she will keep on with the increases as I assume that too is her right since we don't have a lease. Would love to have a heart to heart, without showing her our limitations, but that seems hard to do. [ Reply | More ]

I don't think that it is unreasonable on your part to request that all rent increases be valid for a year. [ Reply | More ]

in the past she would just tell us. Then we started to ask for it in writing (letter form). She hasn't had to enforce it....we just honor it since up until now we seemed to all agree to the same (lease-less) rules. [ Reply | More ]

you are basically month-to-month in your rental. The rent did not occur "mid-year." If you want to be protected from periodic, unexpected increases, you need to be willing to sign a year or two-year lease. Your landlord has the right to say no to your request for a lease, though. But I would think she would want one for her own protection. [ Reply | More ]

it's usually spelled out in the lease terms. For me, I have to keep paying until someone else moves in, which they can take advantage of and decide that this is the perfect time to do a bunch of work on it while they're still getting paid. [ Reply | More ]
