[ - ] We have 3 dcs with an unusual age gap, 7, 21 and 25. We need to re do our will and among the decisions will be who to appoint as guardian for our 7 y/o should dh and I buy the farm. Here's my general question: My 21 y/o ds very much wants to be appointed guardian. Presently my brother would be guardian but we're not comfortable with him (he has many issues) My dd is not responsible enough. Would you think it's wise or fair to appoint your 21 y/o ds to this role? 11 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

Interesting question. It makes me think because the age gap between me & my sibs is that--they were in high school when I was born. I'm not sure if my parents even had a will, but when I think about it, had something happened to them, I probably would have gone to my brother--the middle sibling--because he was married at the time and more stable. Does that help? [ Reply | More ]

Yes, thanks. I should have added that my 21 y/o is conservative and stable. I just don't know if he understands what it would mean. [ Reply | More ]

He's so young! It's unlikely we'll both die early but I hesitate just because I don't want to change the course of his life so profoundly. But you're right - the basic issue is trust. [ Reply | More ]

I might. When I think of my older nieces and nephews, there's actually one who's around 21 who would have the maturity to take on that role. Depends on your son. [ Reply | More ]

if you live in the city you have to go to madison towers spa. for $80 you get a private sauna, steam, shower and then these incredible asian women wrap you in a sheet and literally hang from a bar and walk on your back. afterwards they lead you into a room with a heated floor to relax. it is the best deal in town. I didn't until dd was over a year old. I felt completely isolated and lonely, like you. It is completely normal. I regret not joining a new mom's group. It's not to late to join one. You will meet other moms and even if you don't become best friends, it will get you out of the house and connecting with other people. That is so important. [ Reply | More ]
