I just want to make it easier for everyone (especially moms), to pay someone to keep the kids attention while the moms can actually talk. My mom group is getting bigger with new siblings, etc. We're also in Chicago, where homes/apts are a bit bigger (and affordable) than NYC. So, it's typical to have more than 1 kid at a playdate. Thanks. [ Reply | More ]

Wait, so is it a playgroup or a playdate? Either way I think I'd not be too pleased if I was asked to pony up $20 for something like that. You would need to be in a playgroup and all agree ahead of time that's something you wanted to do. If you invite people (even people w/ children) to your home then you don't charge them for the privilege of visiting. [ Reply | More ]

hi i am 26 year old samantha . i have 6 years experience working with children from newborn thru age 10 and 25 years caring for children as i watched my grandmother care for my 13 younger cousins. i have worked with families as a nanny and also worked part time in an inhome daycare, looking after children as young as newborns i am looking to fill up my work week. i have been employed with this family for nearly 3 years now, taking care of their son from the age of 6 months old. i am interested in working fridays, saturdays and sundays. i am cpr and first aid trained. a typical day would include trips to the park/playground,playdates and trips to the museums and zoo. if i am required to prepare meals it is made with little to no salt or sugar. in 2003 i started my college education studying to become an rn but had to stop a year after due to rising tuition costs. when i do return it will be in the field of child psychology. my references are my current employer and other families i have worked with. summer of 2005 i held two jobs in southhampton, i worked with two families. one family i worked with the four grandkids, 2 for five days and the other 2 for nine days. the other family i was with the majority of the summer. the families all returned to their homes. i can provide references for both families, the owner of the inhome daycare and another family i worked with recently (this family moved to LA) and my current employer ( i am employed monday thru thursday). i am a very patient individual who loves explaining homework concepts to children so that they can better understand their homework and class work, also i love hugging, kissing and playing with babies just ensuring that they feel loved and cherished. i am seeking employment as a part- time nanny, Friday or on a weekend as an on call basis especially with families who like going out on a weekend. My contact information is email: samanthareneau@hotmail.com Telephone: 347-276-1931 cell My references are awaiting to speak with eligible families who have their child/children's best interest at heart. thank you for your time and patience in reading my reply. I read gossip that his mother and that one sister are alcoholics/addicts. He's lived with his father in LA since he was 17 and had little contact with his mother. General Topics 07.22.08, 02:21 PM Flag

OP - Yes. We've always paid less for full time nanny-only and now that dd going to kindergarten and will be in school 8:30 - 2:50, are changing to combo housekeeper/housecleaner/babysitter, who we know and is very good at all. $675 is just a lot more $$ than we've been paying, and even though we're 2 working parents, it's not easy to pay that much more - although we will, because she's good, if $675 is a reasonable rate. [ Reply | More ]
General Topics 07.22.08, 02:24 PM Flag

i think it's reasonable but if it were me, i'd rather find one person to do cleaning and one person to do childcare. you might pay a premium on each b/c it's not full time so you'll end up paying the same amount. but it's easier than if she slacks off in any one area. (i mean, what are you going to do if you don't like how she cleans?). [ Reply | More ]
General Topics 07.22.08, 02:34 PM Flag

easy to find someone to do housekeeping and cleaning 40 hours/week, but almost impossible to find someone to do the childcare for workweeks that vary from 20-50 hours/week (e.g., school vacation weeks and all those random days when there's no school because teachers go to seminars, etc.) Fortunately, I already know I like how she cleans and cooks. then do it. it's a very good price for what you are getting. but if it were me, i wouldn't *need* the housekeeping 40 hours a week so i wouldn't do it. but it sounds like it'll work out well for you. [ Reply | More ]
