$600, 2 weeks vacation, all major holidays plus any other time that you go away, have in the house what she likes to eat (or give her $ to go grocery shopping). Metrocard is a good perk to add after 6 months if you like her. Raises of $25-50/yr and $50-100 for each additional child. [ Reply | More ]

We pay ours $11, she gets a metrocard, cellphone with unlimited minutes, lunch, the ability to bring her older child in when she likes, two weeks vacation, 1 week scheduled by her, 10 personal/sick days. [ Reply | More ]

op: how do you deal with lunch? just let her buy groceries with baby's groceries? set a limit? And do you buy time and a half for more hours? THANK YOU [ Reply | More ]

Yes we both buy groceries as needed. We asked her what kinds of food she liked to eat and haven't had to set a limit as she's not abusive of it. We pay time and a half overtime. The one sticky point we had was letting her take *additional* paid time off in excess of all her paid time off during the day that she wanted compensated as time and a half at night. For example, she'd want to trade a seven hour block of time during the day for 3.5 in the evening. That would have really consumed a good chunk of my remaining vacation time. I too would like to trade in my 40 hour day job for a 20 hour night job for same money. I can't. We both got over it. I interviewed many and spoke to lots more candidates. None were legal despite our advertisement for one. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] Venting: So its Friday night, I am home with the three kids and DH is out with the boys..again. To aggravate the situation, we just moved out to the burbs and I know no one, still have crazy unpacking to do and I am tired. Physically and emotionally. I think I am done. How do you start a conversation with DH about where our relationship is going? I feel like we never see eachother- he is not home much and when he is, he is in his 'daddy zone'- free of kids and wife. He even missed our oldest's birthday because he was driving up from a night out with the boys. I feel like I am married to Vince Vaughn's character in Break-Up. 8 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

That's moronic. Of course play and read and enrich and talk to your child. Look at maps, do puzzles, build towers and talk about the world and how things work. Draw pictures and practice letters and drawing shapes and patterns. Play games with your own kid, duh! You don't have to pay someone $20,000 to do this with special worksheets for some overrated test -- you can and should be enriching your child's life as their parent. [ Reply | More ]
