Haven't BTDT but two suggestions I've seen here before: 1) duct tape on the diaper, and 2) zippered pjs put on backwards. [ Reply | More ]

Second vote for the backward p.j.'s My first never tried anything like this--and he was in diapers until age 4. If I had heard something like this I would have been appalled and thought the parent was doing something wrong or the kid was disturbed. But then DD came along--started undressing herself at 2 and we had this issue once (that second kid gives a lot of perspective). We did the backward zip-up p.j.s and it solved the problem. What do you mean by 'before you get to him? He poops in his sleep on a regular basis? He poops silently immediately upon waking? This story doesn't compute. [ Reply | More ]

No BTDT, but my MIL told me that she did something similar when she was little and was essentially finger painting on the wall with her poop after a nap. I can only imagine what her mother thought when she walked in and what you are dealing with right now. Sorry no suggestions, hope that you find a solution soon! [ Reply | More ]

Again, my question is, where was mom? Poop play is absolutely normal and of minimal medical concern (repainting being another issue). Hard to envision how a child remains silent through waking, pooping and painting sufficiently for mom to be totally surprised more than once. [ Reply | More ]

Baby preference is different from 'needs'. You should do what's most comfortable for you & babe. Point is to simulate womb with snuggish fit, warmth, heartbeat, movement...antithesis of rigid, remote stroller. Pick what you like and baby smiles in. [ Reply | More ]

We love the Native Carrier sling-close baby, totally snug, unisex as can be (for adults) and goes for years, as it can be a seat/sling for any stroller-less, tired toddler times. I did just buy a GRACO sling w/ a built in swaddle harness/belt-y thing(as a shower gift) because it looked great. We didn't Bjorn until babe was 7-8 wks old and then, only outdoors. The sling is perfect for home and ideal for discreet nursing. We really used both. [ Reply | More ]

I mostly ended up holding dd. It's true every db is different, some don't like the feeling of confinement in a (some) carriers. I almost never ended up using the hotsling (pouch) and Moby wrap I bought, got a ton of use out of the Ergo (w/ infant insert), which we are still using. I also ended up getting a ring sling, which I had rejected the idea of early on, but think it might actually be the best for a tiny babe (only minus is that it does make one arm less usable). I recommend going to Metro Minis on 75th and Park and talking to Bianca. GL... [ Reply | More ]

^^^ oh, yeah. dh uses the bjorn (we had a used one given to us) and dd loves it (she's really too big now, though). It's murder on your shoulders, though, and you can't nurse in it, at least it isn't designed for that, and dd nursed so often, so that also made it a no-go for me (also not good for youg dbs for long periods due to their position). There's a new carrier that allows facing out but is better for parent and baby (a la Ergo) called a Pikkolo, which I want to check out, since dd loves facing out! [ Reply | More ]

Not to sound flip, but the best one is the one that the baby likes. Unfortunately it's hard to tell without testing. Our DB HATED slings but loved upright carriers (Bjorn was best when she was small, then the Ergo was great once she got heavier). [ Reply | More ]

Buy an Omega juicer and organic produce- then juice is fantastic. Bottled, catoned juice is a lot of empty, sugary, pretty nutritionally void liquid. [ Reply | More ]
