suddenly, i feel MUCH better about our potty training issues. sorry, no btdt advice for that--how old is ds? what does he wear to sleep? maybe you could make it impossible for him to open his diaper? [ Reply | More ]

Haven't BTDT but two suggestions I've seen here before: 1) duct tape on the diaper, and 2) zippered pjs put on backwards. [ Reply | More ]

Second vote for the backward p.j.'s My first never tried anything like this--and he was in diapers until age 4. If I had heard something like this I would have been appalled and thought the parent was doing something wrong or the kid was disturbed. But then DD came along--started undressing herself at 2 and we had this issue once (that second kid gives a lot of perspective). We did the backward zip-up p.j.s and it solved the problem. What do you mean by 'before you get to him? He poops in his sleep on a regular basis? He poops silently immediately upon waking? This story doesn't compute. [ Reply | More ]

No BTDT, but my MIL told me that she did something similar when she was little and was essentially finger painting on the wall with her poop after a nap. I can only imagine what her mother thought when she walked in and what you are dealing with right now. Sorry no suggestions, hope that you find a solution soon! [ Reply | More ]

Again, my question is, where was mom? Poop play is absolutely normal and of minimal medical concern (repainting being another issue). Hard to envision how a child remains silent through waking, pooping and painting sufficiently for mom to be totally surprised more than once. [ Reply | More ]
