Sometimes, the Korean deli/grocery stores carry small jars. Do you want the spicy cabage kimchi or other kinds of kimchi? Otherwise, you might have to go to Koreatown. [ Reply | More ]

I saw it at Abingdon Sq. Green Market this past Saturday (it is a Saturday only marker). There is a Korean family who grows incredible greens which they sell, and they were also selling kimchi. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] DH and I have a 1 bdrm in UWS and a small house in the Catskills that he bought before we were married. Now we have a 7 mos old ds and the commute (2 1/2 hrs each way) EVERY WEEKEND is wearing me out. There is nothing up here - just woods and retired people. No children's groups, etc. DS gets to sleep at 1 am on Fri nights and Sun nights b/c it takes so long to get here and back home. I would like to sell it and get one home in the suburbs or some place (since he needs trees). Does our life not seem ass-backwards to you? I am having trouble dealing with splitting my life betw two small homes. DH does not want to change. 8 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

np: if you go every weekend, why do you bother to pack and unpack? just fully stock the house with clothes, toiletries, etc., and pick dh up at work so you can leave at 8pm. [ Reply | More ]

I completely don't understand packing up every week to go to a 2nd home. If you want to leave home #1 so badly, then move to a better location and have an awesome #1 home you can live in 7 days a week. [ Reply | More ]

everyone that i know in NYC does this, so you are not alone. I used to make a commute to a ski house in VT (6 hrs each way) and a Hamptons share (4+ hrs) when i lived in Manhattan. I needed to get out of th ecity, especially in the summer. Now I live in northern Westchester, and I have everything I want right outside my door. My DH and I joke that our 2nd home will be a pied a terre in the city [ Reply | More ]

good news and bad news: there's no market for second homes right now, so wouldn't be a good time anyway. going up EVERY weekend is crazy. Maybe agree on a more realistic schedule. Then figure out how frequently you could go away and be with trees on long weekends if you didn't have the house. [ Reply | More ]
