i'm a stepdaughter who became one as a teen, and all i can say is sorry. esp. if they're girls. but what advice do you need? i think it can sometimes work out great but tread lightly, don't try to be too good friends, but be open to them. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] my mom thinks her role is to do everything for everyone. she wipes my dd after she pees! (I put a stop to that today, she is 5 already). I ask her to at least give my kids a chance to try things on their own before doing everything for them. Its my childhood all over again, she used to do my homework for me unless I took it from her. 8 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

we have the same mom. she still tells me what i should say to this person or that, as if i couldn't do it on my own, etc... i have very low self-esteem when by all outside measures i should have high, and i think this is one major cause. if your mom is w/ your dc's often, i'd talk to her too. if not, prob. no harm. ^^^cause of low self-esteem in that growing up (and still) i had someone tell me how to do everything as if i couldn't possibly figure it out on my own, or it would be the end of the world if i made a mistake trying. really sends a negative message to a kid imo. [ Reply | More ]

This was me. Twins were 2.5 when the baby was born. I got live in help and I stay at home. It's been great but hectic. I thought one would be a breeze, compared to infant twins but it's been harder since managing toddlers is far more time consuming that a baby who sleeps most of the day. [ Reply | More ]

My oldest was 3.5 when I had my 3rd dc. Get help lined up. As long as you have a babysitter a couple afternoons a week and plan on having groceries delivered and use drugstore.com for toiletries you'll make it through. Really try to have everything setup so you don't need to go to the store ever. And forget about the kids' nutrition for the first year. just feed them what is easiest for you. you can get back to healthy food later. Good luck! [ Reply | More ]
