my mom thinks her role is to do everything for everyone. she wipes my dd after she pees! (I put a stop to that today, she is 5 already). I ask her to at least give my kids a chance to try things on their own before doing everything for them. Its my childhood all over again, she used to do my homework for me unless I took it from her. we have the same mom. she still tells me what i should say to this person or that, as if i couldn't do it on my own, etc... i have very low self-esteem when by all outside measures i should have high, and i think this is one major cause. if your mom is w/ your dc's often, i'd talk to her too. if not, prob. no harm. ^^^cause of low self-esteem in that growing up (and still) i had someone tell me how to do everything as if i couldn't possibly figure it out on my own, or it would be the end of the world if i made a mistake trying. really sends a negative message to a kid imo. [ Reply | More
