I was friends with someone for over 20 years and she continuously, since we were 13, was totally self-centered to the point of absurdity. The last straw came a few years ago when we made a date to meet at a bar in the freezing cold. She was late, as she always was with exactly zero exceptions. The bar was so packed that I was forced to wait outside for 45 minutes shivering. When she finally showed up, her excuse for being late (no apology) was that she was leaving her house and all of a sudden had to have sex with her boyfriend. So I finally dumped her. I know - I'm an idiot for letting it go on for so long. [ Reply | More ]

op: this is why ub always descends into stupidity. this isn't about YOU or your birth. It's about statistics and the documented wellbeing of women and children. Read the article. The study states that premature birth between 34 - 37 weeks have skyrocketed and the cause is most likely too many c-secs. This isn't a case of "live and let live" when medical policies are causing birth trauma to thousands of infants.. [ Reply | More ]

op: this study just provides further proof of what many other doctors have been saying for quite sometime - the c-sec rate in the past 20 years has skyrocketed with out any corresponding improvement in birth outcomes, i.e., cerebral palsy rates are the same etc. What this study adds is the fact that not only are these c-secs not helping anybody, they are actually harming people. A doctor's oath is "first do no harm". They are suppossed to do nothing unless there is a benefit to do something. Current obstetrical practice regarding c-secs has made a mockery out of fundamental medical principals. [ Reply | More ]

if they can get the med mal lawyers reeled in, that will be the true first step. Hate Carrie's - not very sophisticated yet trying too hard. Like Miranda's and Charlotte's the best. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] With #1, I had about 12 hours after my water broke before I delivered. Anyone know how long you have with #2? I'm so scared to leave the city in fear that I wouldn't get to the hospital in time? 10 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

Everyone told me that #2 would be super quick and I didn't believe them. Then I had # 2 and almost had him in the car. [ Reply | More ]

NP: Total ditto! I got to the hospital at 7:35 a.m. and had my dd at 7:59 a.m. (I didn't feel ANYTHING until like 5:30 a.m. and it was really minor.) [ Reply | More ]

or: that's too funny, I got to the hospital at 7, had baby at 7:16. But I had pretty major contractions on the way there and for an hour or so before. But the whole thing was under 2 hours, start to finish. [ Reply | More ]

Oh, I was in AGONY once we got to the car! But before then it was hardly anything. I had always been afraid I wouldn't know I was in labor (water broke with #1 and just went to hospital) and I was right! [ Reply | More ]

I went about three hours from water breaking to delivery with #2. I'd had strong BH for weeks, so wasn't sure I was in labor until just a few hours before #2 came. [ Reply | More ]

np: I'm scared of this! I've also been having strong BH for weeks now. First time, water broke, went to hospital-- no thinking. This time I need abx for strep-- but I'm not sure I'll know enough to get there in time! [ Reply | More ]

I posted above (the one with the 2 hr labor). I was strep + as well and they just about got an IV into me before I delivered and everything was fine. My water broke as I got to the hospital. [ Reply | More ]
