[ - ] Anyone who judges me because I gave birth without meds and thinks I did it to be selfless is so off-base. I don't talk about it except when asked (usually by close friends who are pregnant and want to get info) and did it because for my first, I really felt like the epidural set me back and that's partially why I ended up in labor for 30 hours. (My doctor says she suspects as much.) I don't react well to medication, and this time around, I wanted to just try another route since I was so miserable the first time. And it worked for me. 12 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

I did the same thing. Hated the epidural the first time (hated the needle, the numb feeling, 20 hr labor, vaccuum extraction.....). 2nd time, quick, easy labor, four painful pushes and out popped the baby. [ Reply | More ]

General Topics 05.28.08, 08:42 PM Flag

noooo, not necessarily. but if you're concerned, have your ob look at it to see how it's healed. mine basically said, if there is not chronic pain, then i should leave it and not get a revision (which i had asked about). because there are so many nerve endings in that area that getting a revision would mean risking ending up with some kind of nerve damage and chronic pain. ughh. so i'm hanging with slight discomfort. or, as *he* put it, my "new normal"... yes. it's actually not really a problem during sex. it's more the day to day. it just feels *different* all the time and kind of tingles sometimes. but that's much better than when i was nursing and it felt like the inside of my vagina was constantly rubbing against my underpants. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] Need some feedback please. My sn ds has been attending a nd preschool with a SEIT. Next year the preK there is a 5 day a week 5 hr a day committment. The school director has supported us in therapy and offered to permit ds to arrive late/leave early or even have some services concurrent with school ie PT during playground. He just got a spot at ps41 pm preK tha is only a 2.5 hour day 5x a week. I love his current school. but ds has IEP for 111 hours of realted services. It would be an easier schedule to go to ps 41 but we enjoy the private school he's been going to. I am worried about the rigor of staying, but also know he loves it there. This year he only goes 3 days a week for 5 hours a day. What would you suggest? switch to a new setting at ps41 with a shorter day or stay where at the supportive school he likes with friends he enjoys but a much more demanding schedule? 5 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

[ - ] I feared this day would come. The older of our two children (aged 1.5 and 3.5 yrs) has come to dislike a babysitter who has been with us for two years. It started gradually about three months ago, and now he has reached the state of total antipathy for her. When pressed for details, he says she "isn't silly" and "never laughs" and "doesn't like to play funny games." I agree that she is a serious woman, but we have always liked her for her integrity, common sense, and reliability. Would you end the relationship right away so as not to make your child unhappy, or would you approach the sitter and suggest ways she might be able to engage him a bit more on a child's level? She babysits for us two evenings a week without fail, so there is an ongoing relationship and commitment. I don't want to lose my son's trust and confidence in me, so intuition dictates that I say goodbye to this sitter, but I also don't want to prematurely end the arrangement if there is some way to salvage it by speaking with her. FYI, this is not my son't ploy to get us to stay home those nights, as he has specifically stated the two other sitters he loves and thinks are "silly" and "funny" and whom he would prefer to see instead of this other woman. What would you do? 6 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

He is with her for 3 waking hours on each of the 2 nights she is here, for a total of 6 waking hours each week. The period includes playtime, dinner, reading, bedtime routine. I have two freewheeling, happy-go-lucky little boys, and even dinner and bedtime are "playful" for them. I fear she is just not the right personality for them, particularly my older son, but feel so conflicted about giving up a smart and capable sitter like this one. [ Reply | More ]

how many waking hours does she spend with him? in any event, I think I'd start to phase her out (we went through something similar, but it was with a part time nanny -- ie spending a lot more hours with the kids), and I could see my older dd was not respecting her, and I didn't want to force the issue -- I think the nanny realized it too, b/c she left by mutual agreement.
