[ - ] 5 mo has started waking herself up at night when she rolls over. She used to be a great sleeper, but once she rolls to her tummy, she can't roll back over. Do I keep going in all night to turn her back over? Help! 2 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

Are you concerned b/c of SIDS? If she can roll over on her own, it's OK for her to sleep on her tummy. I have a friend who couldn't WAIT for db to learn how to roll over b/c they really do sleep better that way. It's why it's such a risk for the wee, wee ones. [ Reply | More ]

leave her unless she is screaming, then go in and turn her to make her comfortable until she can do it alone, it won't last long, i did it with my ds, left him to turn all around unless he was really screaming and stuck uncomfortably [ Reply | More ]

Its really hard at that age because they still need a nap during the day, but they usually have too much energy and end up staying up till all hours of the night. I had that problem with my son. Now that he is almost 4 and doesn't take the nap during the day, he goes down by 8PM. Hang in there. Maybe do quiet time or try to have 2yo nap earlier. [ Reply | More ]

here's the problem with it (my sister and bf both went through this with their dc). at 2, it's fine as long as she's getting 12 hours of sleep. at 3, a few things happen - her internal clock kicks in and she's starts to wake up at 6,7,8 (like any other kid) and she's not getting enough sleep, but isnt used to going down before 10. another is preschool - they will have a hard time getting up and going. And finally, you and your dh need a break, some quiet time w/o dc around. jmho [ Reply | More ]

When we go overseas everyone thinks I'm insane if I put my son to bed around 7-8. They all stay up till about 10. I think the early to bed thing is cultural. You have to do what is best for your child and your family. If the child is resisting and seems to be well rested, what is the problem with a 10PM bedtime? [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] You know what is starting to really bug me? Nannies. I am a sahm with two small kids, so i'm out and about at all the local kid-oriented places. The nannies I see, by and large, are so disinterested and ambivilent about the kids they're watching. They travel in packs and the kids run wild while the nannies all chat amongst themselves. I know all mothers and fathers are entitled to moments of boredom or laziness, and i've been in plenty of situations where the mom's all get together and the kids run wild. but it's just becoming so galling to see so many kids out with people who don't connect with them meaningfully. and when the kids are older, the nannies who do pick-up and drop-off generally speak so little english (or just don't care) that they don't engage with the teachers or other parents and miss all of the nuanced stuff that happens there. if my kid gets a time-out, i want to know exactly what happened, you know? there are plenty of bad parents out there, and lots of parents who may have different priorities than mine, but seeing all these kids with their nannies is just starting to drive me crazy. 8 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

[ - ] Did I over-react? DD was playing quietly by herself (she is 2) and these two older boys came over to play with trucks. One of them decides to push DD away and I said "hey! don't push her! it's not nice to push, especially kids that are smaller than you" in the same tone I tell DD when she gets aggressive (my mean mommy voice). the other mom saw what happened (she was sitting about 10 ft away) and didn't say anything to her son. DD then decided she wanted to play with the boy and I told her not to, because he wasn't being nice to her. Afterwards, I thought I might have over-reacted a bit. Oh well. 12 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

I think you were fine with the first, but over the top with the second. Children push, especially boys push. You rebuke and then you let it go. [ - ] did you gain weight on zoloft? If so, was it quickly or after you were on it for awhile? Did you gain b/c you overate or was it just from the drug? 7 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

i didn't gain, but i was trying to drop a few at the time and found it impossible to lose. i mean, running every day, doing weights with a trainer, being really careful about my diet and it wouldn't budge [ Reply | More ]

how long was it hard to lose? did you eventually lose weight while on zoloft or did you have to wait until you got off it to lose weight? I am a former bulimic so the weight gain will be very hard for me to tolerate. [ Reply | More ]

i went off zoloft because it really didn't help me with my anxiety. i wonder if it would be really good for you because your weight would just be stable? [ Reply | More ]

op-are you the or who did not lose on it? did you go something else after? I am going through a rough time, have been crying a lot and also suffer from anxiety. Hope it helps and does not cause more anxiety b/c of weight gain. [ Reply | More ]

yes. i've tried everything. i am now on lexapro and i find that it helps a bit but i have panic disorder so cbt and exercising helps a ton too. getting used to the increased heart rate and lack of oxygen in a controlled setting. but everyone is different. [ Reply | More ]
