Also, when starting solids, what should I try next week after rice cereal? What time of day did you feed? Any suggestions would help! 2 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

dont stress over any of it, your kid will be fine. try fruits after cereal, get him used to eating off a spoon more, then try some veggies. have fun with it. [ Reply | More ]

tiny dog you can carry on with you in a bag? that's fine. Bigger dog? Don't do it. Sending dogs in the baggage compartment is cruel and dangerous. More and more airlines are getting reluctant to take them, and have lots of restrictions about it. [ Reply | More ]

We put the crib mattress on the floor next to the bed in case he fell out (which he did!). We put a gate at the door to his room too. It took a few weeks before our son would sleep in the bed as he he used to get up and sleep in his chair. We found that putting a padded mattress topper on made the difference as the bed mattress was too firm. [ Reply | More ]

even if mattress is very close to floor, have a bed rail on from the first night. The feeling of insecurity/worry over falling can really stress a kid out and make the transition harder. [ Reply | More ]

np: smart, I think. Or even just a hook near the top of the door. My parents locked me in my room at that age because I was a big wanderer, and I'm no worse for wear 34 yrs later... Also, I like having the BR door actually closed. It's better for blocking noise, and more fire safe. [ Reply | More ]

wellbutrin helped my sex drive and depression, the effexor is more for anxiety. anyhow, i know you can't take effexor during pregnancy and i don't think you can take wellbutrin, either. being numbed out is just not being able to cry when you should be able to... [ Reply | More ]

I really like to read Gruffaloo to a group because I can use a different voice for each animal (Mouse is Brooklyn/Joe Pesci; Owl is snooty English Lord; Snake is Ssssilky sssmooth voice; etc.) I also really like Tickle the Duck because the kids will go nuts tickling the duck. (You have to know the group for this one.) Also, Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus is a good one (Have the kids answer the pigeon en masse -- "NO!") And finally I love Reading Icky Sticky Frog. I read it in a deep, Venus Flytrap/Cool Jazz DJ voice. (I'm a dad.) I can go on... [ Reply | More ]

For reading to a larger group of pre K kids? Those kids love these types of books. You can read headier books to them but they won't enjoy it as much. Zen Shorts is great one on one with a 5 year old. But read it to 20 4-5 year olds and you'll be fighting for their attention. At least that has been my experience. [ Reply | More ]
