Obviously no one works 24/7--8 mos spend a lot of time sleeping, etc. I think what OP means is that the person is expected to be on call 24/7, which is quite different. Would you say a sahm works 24/7? In some senses yes, but not exactly, if you know what I mean. [ Reply | More ]

Yes, these people get paid A LOT (see fees for baby nurses below), but obviously they have a lot of down time in which they can get other stuff done. My baby nurse (also 24/7) used to go out all the time on errands, etc. when we were around and with the kids. Why is this so hard to understand? [ Reply | More ]

np. They don't WANT to work these hours it's because they NEED to. I knew someone wanting to bring a nanny over from India legally because they "would hardly have to pay her anything and she wouldn't have friends to go and visit anyway so the long hours wouldn't be a problem". [ Reply | More ]

I don't know that there is a going rate for this b/c I don't know anyone who has this arrangement (and everyone I know has household help). but I can tell you that $800/wk is standard for a live-in for twins 5 days a week. You are basically looking for 7 days/wk, so I would say $1100/wk. [ Reply | More ]

Is the live-in on call 24 hours for those 5 days? I never understand what the point is of having someone live in your house if they aren't going to be on-call the whole time they're there. Why give up a bedroom to someone who only works, say 9-7 anyway? [ Reply | More ]

Do you have to do proof of address like you did for zoned school? How much time do you have to get the medical stuff filled out? TIA. 6 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

Don't know. But we had to take our dc with us to register for zoned school. Also, the G&T ranking form explicitly stated that any acceptances to district G&T programs would be contingent on proving that you qualify (which I assume means proof of address?). I plan on registering our dc as soon as possible after we get our placement. [ Reply | More ]

Once accepted at a school we will probably get a letter from the school that accepted us with a bunch of forms to fill out: registration form, health form, etc. etc. etc. Then you bring those and your child to that school and your child will be registered. when dd was accepted at a citywide a couple of years ago, we made an appt to go to the school and register, like you would for any zoned school. the process was the same. we did not bring our dc with us, if i recall correctly, but that may vary school to school. [ Reply | More ]
