what I'm saying is that a black man as president - and a good president who happens to be black - gives hope and a feeling that anyone can really become anything with struggle and work in this country. the deck is stacked and has always been, but this change is (if it happens) a great opportunity to change the dialogue a bit... I think you misuse the term racist and it is funny how you opt for "bigot" to describe whites. Your last sentence is what defines the difference. It is ok to vote for someone because, among other things, he represents your community/race/etc. When it becomes morally suspect is when you refuse to consider someone solely because they are a member of a group. The black community has a long history of voting for whites in this country. The same can not be said for whites. [ Reply | More ]

i'm kind of in the middle on this issue. i am sending to parochial school which, imo, has a lot of the perceived benefits or private but without the really high cost and without the elitism. I think the problem is that a lot of public schools are not doing a good job when it comes to education. With private, you are picking the school and even if it's not a top notch school, you have enough of a choice. [ Reply | More ]
