this primary is SO much about race. Why is it OK for blacks to be so racist, even celebrated, but whites are bigots for preferring a white candidate. MSN headline this morning says "blacks elated...." Can you imagine a headline saying "whites elated...". Its OK to vote for Obama because he's black, but its NOT OK not to vote for him because he's black. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I think you misuse the term racist and it is funny how you opt for "bigot" to describe whites. Your last sentence is what defines the difference. It is ok to vote for someone because, among other things, he represents your community/race/etc. When it becomes morally suspect is when you refuse to consider someone solely because they are a member of a group. The black community has a long history of voting for whites in this country. The same can not be said for whites. [ Reply | More

np: i don't know if i agree that it's ok to vote for someone b/c of race. and i don't know if people feel the same way, depending on the race. i think the op's point is that it seems to be ok for black people to choose obama b/c he is black but it's not ok for white people to choose clinton for similar reasons.
