[ - ] What is the going rate for a full-time nanny in the NYC area? We are paying about 13.50/hr for a 52 hour work-week and want to make sure this rate is fair to our babysitter? We are just outside the City in NJ. 3 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

We pay about $11.50 per hour for a 52 hour week. This is after more than two years, so she has had two raises. And it also includes light housekeeping. However, she didn't have a fulltime job when we hired her, so probably paying below market for taking that risk (although she came highly recommended from a friend who used her part time) [ Reply | More ]

so you are paying about $700/wk. That's totally within the going rate range. What I have found is that the more hours the job is, the less per hour you need to pay. I have found that nannies tend to look at how much they need to make per week, they look at the take-home, much more than the hourly wage. Most nyc area nannies make $550-$750 week. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] Question on behalf of my babysitter. She lives in Brownsville with bad district public schools. She has been sending her dc's to a private christian school(not Catholic, Pentacostal I think) but doesnt particularly like the new principal and its always a struggle to pay the tuition. A friend of hers recently got her kids into a nearby charter school that sounds really great to her. How does she go about getting in? is it too late for September? Any advice? (I have a toddler and infant so no experience here)TIA. 3 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

Get the name of the school from her and go to the school's website. I did the same thing for my babysitter and printed out the admissions forms for her. This was a couple of months ago though, so don't remember what the deadlines were. [ Reply | More ]

If you are planning to test your DC for Hunter, you wait until the fall, request an application by email or in person and wait for them to send you the letter with the approved testers and a special card you must give to your tester. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] Anyone ever do this? I blew my top with my sister because she is so irresponsible, very very narcissictic to the point where it is like a disease, always drops her kid at everyone else's house, cops threatening to take baby away because she and her dh are always fighting and screaming (bad fights). he cheats on her, she cheats on him etc.. So she said to me - well I want another kid soon and I lost it. Why do I care?? I get upset cause having a kid is not a joke and I feel like she doesn't respect that fact. 5 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

nothing you can do. and she is probably not narcissistic, but borderline. what you can do is read, 'the search for hte real self' by james masterson. and also, 'stepping on eggshells' by marsha something. the latter on is just for communication. how is her relationship with your mother? I'm not a dr. but if you read about this, there are reasons why you wouldn't want to use your own cordblood for yourself, but it would help your sibling - something about putting the same bad cells back into you. Of course, the whole thing is very experimental. [ Reply | More ]

And he knew my DH was 5 ft away! Not to mention that we were just all talking so nicely about our beautiful children and his wife seemed lovely. I was so grossed out. Men are men, it doesn't matter how lovely their wives are. Stuff like this always used to break my heart b/c I always thougth my dh was so perfect. Then I later found out he was one of them... ita. I think men like that don't respect women in general, neither their "conquests" nor their wives. not that they don't lust in their hearts ala Jimmy Carter, but they don't act on it. It's a conscious decision not something they can't help [ Reply | More ]
