What is the going rate for a full-time nanny in the NYC area? We are paying about 13.50/hr for a 52 hour work-week and want to make sure this rate is fair to our babysitter? We are just outside the City in NJ. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

We pay about $11.50 per hour for a 52 hour week. This is after more than two years, so she has had two raises. And it also includes light housekeeping. However, she didn't have a fulltime job when we hired her, so probably paying below market for taking that risk (although she came highly recommended from a friend who used her part time) [ Reply | More ]

so you are paying about $700/wk. That's totally within the going rate range. What I have found is that the more hours the job is, the less per hour you need to pay. I have found that nannies tend to look at how much they need to make per week, they look at the take-home, much more than the hourly wage. Most nyc area nannies make $550-$750 week. [ Reply | More ]
