ds is 6 1/2 mos. we started at 4 mos bc of reflux issues. i give him 1 4 oz jar at bkfast and 1 4 oz jar for dinner. should i be giving more, or starting to add lunch? im so confused, and very worried about giving too much food/formula bc of all the reflux/vomiting issues. [ Reply | More ]

Then ask your ped. I started 3 meals a day at about that time. Do you do rice cereal/oatmeal too? [ Reply | More ]

actually, at the ped GI's suggestion, we stopped cereal/oatmeal altogether. was causing constipation which aggravated the reflux. she told us to stick only to fruits and veggies. when i last talked to my ped, he was eating the stage 1 2.5 oz jars, and she said to increase to the stage 2 4 oz jars, which he now seems to want more of. ped told me to aim for 3 meals and 24 oz of forumla by 9 mos. right now he takes about 26 oz formula over 4 bottles: 5, 7, 7, 8. not sure when to add lunch and if/when to reduce/eliminate bottles. sorry to be so crazed, it's just very confusing to a new mom and especially bc we have had it so hard with the reflux and all the vomiting. i really appreciate your suggestions. if you're just giving fruit and veg purees, maybe he needs bulkier foods, meats etc. And I would definitely add lunch at this point and may talk to your pediatrician about doing FOUR meals a day. The meals can be a bit smaller and that might help with the reflux. Good luck! [ Reply | More ]

OP: I know this is not ectopic b.c an early ultrasound at 5w3d showed it was in the right place. My second loss was an ectopic so RE was on the lookout for that. As for my numbers RE says that they should be hire and not taking so long to increase. 4 days ago they were at 7,400. Tomorrow is sonogram #2 so I guess I will know then what is going on. no, because hitting is out of control behavior on your part, and probably escalating his behavior, besides being totally inconsistent with what you're trying to teach him. Read some parenting books- How to Talk so Your Kid will Listen; Your Two Year Old, and whatever else you can get your hands on. His behavior is totally normal. Your frustation is normal too, and we've all been there. And if you've think he's bad now, wait til he's 3.5 :) [ Reply | More ]
