[ - ] Please help me to put this into perspective: DD is too young for private K and will be going into a lower tiered ongoing pre K. 99 SB and OLSAT, but dinged for H and A. Just got her ERB back and it's 98 performance, 99 verbal, 98 full scale. So I have two questions for all of you: First, given her test scores and I dumb to keep her at this non-TT ongoing school? I do like it and we might love it once we get started. And second, (please don't flame for this) do the 98's on the ERB make her harder to place? Do the real TT schools only want 99X3? I'll need to get some applications in the fall before I really know if we like the pre-K ongoing, and right now I like Dalton but I always hear that Dalton only takes 99X3 kids. 9 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

My dd had the exact same scores as yours and PSD said that she could get in anywhere with those scores (not that she would get in everywhere, but the scores were good enough to qualify her for any school). We didn't apply private [ Reply | More ]

are you the poster from before with the FA award? If yes, that will make it much tougher for your dd to get a TT K spot, more than anything else. BTW, a 99/99/99 dd (not summer bday) from my dc's preschool class did not get a private spot. Your dd's score is great, but no guarantee of anything. I think you're focusing too much on tiers. If you like the school, stay there and re-evaluate for middle school. There's a lot of movement. [ Reply | More ]

Today I am just so sad thinking about how much damage this is doing to me emotionally. I wish I was more like them and could just not care any more. I hate that I secretly hold out hope that we will resolve this, and that I am still so hurt by their treatment of me and my family. 6 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

Too much to tell but angry MIL upset about her divorce pitted the sons against each other using their wives. BIL was very vulnerable at the time because he was being protective of his wife and believe we were all out to get her. He has since stopped talking to fil, dh, and several of his bff's from college. My new sil fed into all of this because she has her own issues. An abusive dad (held gun to her head and her mothers) and grew up poor, so she needed to believe we hated her too. MIL used it as an opportunity to get bil to take she side in the divorce she was in the middle of. Turned bil against his father. The whole thing is just such a mess now and the detail of how this has played are VERY ugly. [ Reply | More ]

This could be my post except it's my FIL and SIL. I have to keep reminding myself that they have some pretty severe control issues, and in the case of my SIL, she is really psychologically stunted. I spent 15 years growing closer to DH's family than my own, and then poof, it's all thrown away by them. It sucks sucks sucks. But what's important is that you and DH are on the same side and you can move on. [ Reply | More ]

That has been hard for me too. I was married to dh for 8 years. It took me a long time to get close to bil, but by all accounts we were close. In fact he turned on me because I wanted to get to know his gf (now dw) better and he thought I just wanted to trash her. Now we no one speaks to each other and my children no longer have an uncle. I am an only and dh only had the one brother. So yes, after years of really trying with dh's family it has all been for nothing. [ Reply | More ]

We have a good local school but our son is already doing accelerated work (reading at about the 3rd/4th grade level) and we're nervous about him being bored in class. hey, ps29 mom. my DC will be in K there too--also reading at that level, and also a sponge for highly detailed science data/info. and they can't be the only ones, so I'm optimistic. see you there! [ Reply | More ]

Great! Maybe there will be enough children for a small group reading at that level. We'll look for you guys in the fall - we're optimistic and excited too! [ Reply | More ]

I'm trying to find a school for my daughter - so looking for various options. I thought 321 was the only one so far. Do you know - is PS29 as overcrowded as 321? Are there any downsides that you can think of? Thank you. [ Reply | More ]

[ - ] Apparently Dunkin Donuts makes donuts in the shape of a number for a kid's birthday. Anyone know if Dunkin does this in Manhattan/Brooklyn, or is it just in the suburbs? 5 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

I don't believe that. I've never seen it, and why wouldn't they advertise it? [ Reply | More ]

It is only in the suburbs. They will do it for you, but costs about $5 a donut in the end. [ Reply | More ]

To clarify, it isn't $5 in the suburbs, the reason it cost so much is to get it to the city. [ Reply | More ]
