[ - ] I've posted before about my 16 year old son getting his 16 yaer old girlfriend pregnant and her parents kicking her out, etc. They are going to have the baby and give it up for adoption. My son's girlfriend and her parents are talking, but it looks like she'll be living with my family during the pregnancy. Her parents are going to pay bills, etc. but they are still upset about her being pregnant. 8 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

[ - ] What's worse--being a 99 and knowing that you drew a low lottery number and missed Anderson/Nest or being a 98 and knowing that you were never really in the running to begin with? I am a 98 and think being a 99 is worse because 98s had nearly two months to prepare themselves for disappointment 7 Replies [ Reply | Watch | More ]

My DC scored 99 (38/40, 88/88) and a Nov. b-day. We got our 3rd choice. We are disappointed that with this score we got our 3rd choice. If DOE had broken down scores by decimals for placement rather than the random % lottery we probably would have gotten our 1st or 2nd choice. So yes, being a 99 and knowing that you drew a low lottery # is tough. [ Reply | More ]

I think it's been pointed out that anywhere between 97 and 99+ is certainly within a margin of error and all of these kids deserve an accelerated program. So there has to be some sort of lottery for limited seats and unfortunately, the difference between a 97, 98, 99 is a place to start the lottery process. The process of assigning seats is fair (ie, all the seats will be filled with kids who need accelerated learning, including those with a 99++++ randomized) what is not fair is the lack of enough seats.
