Last week I withdrew my dc from zoned school, where we had registered in March. Will be registering at citywide today. I heard over the weekend that our zoned school now is telling people who live in the zone that there is a waiting list (yikes). [ Reply | More ]

YOu're not supposed to withdraw from one school. You register at the new school and it goes through as an override transfer. [ Reply | More ]

You call the zoned school. Chances are, though, that they don't care too much about it because the G&T has the power to override current registrations. [ Reply | More ]

the zoned school will care, because a lot of planning goes into number of people accepted from outside the zone, which kids go in which class, etc. [ Reply | More ]

It depends. My zoned school just shrugged it off and didn't care. They didn't even ask for my kid's name. Others, probably the more popular ones, of course would like to hear it from you. [ Reply | More ]

The DOE actually has a central system that covers all students, no? It is not like every each school keeps track of who is registered or not. Once the school year is over and registrations have been dine principals and other folks just create reports using the centralized system. [ Reply | More ]

Incorrect. Each school keeps track. [ Reply | More ]

No they don't. When the second school puts in your registration, it automatically becomes a transfer out of the first school, and the first school is notified. I called our zoned school to withdraw, and they literally told me, "We don't need to hear this from you, your transfer will go through the second school/DOE and we can't take any action until that happens anyway." No, you go to the individual schools to register. Besides, it is the polite common sense thing to do. Call the school and tell them. [ Reply | More ]

$15-18/hr. On a weekly salary, the hourly is less for more hours. So if by f/t you mean 40 hours, you need to pay more per hour (720/wk)than if it is, say, 55 hours (825/wk). [ Reply | More ]

It depends on the school. You can see what % of kids take the free school lunch at each school if you visit Insideschools.org, but kids whose families don't qualify for free lunch can pay for lunch (I think it's $1.50 per day). [ Reply | More ]

I started at 125 and now weigh 146 at 22 weeks, which is too much! Go online and type in "pregnancy weight gain claculator" to give an idea of about how much you should gain. It really sucks, think I got into the habit of eating more early on to avoid m/s, now m/s is over but my habits are messed up. I think I used coffee before pregnancy to regulate my appetite (like had coffee in leiu of a snack in the afternoon.....). Plus I feel so fat even if I am pregnant, I know its the baby but still. I think I could be an anorexic really easily, I need to chill out and make sure to just eat healthy. I had a fill in doctor at my last appt, really didn't help, he actually said "being pregnant is not an excuse to just eat a bunch of cookies and ice cream y'know." I was so insulted, the hormones don't help. [ Reply | More ]

they grow out of it. Just make sure it is nice and warm and try to do somethign soothing. Also, what kid of tub are you using, I think the sling ones work the best.
